I thought we were great, lots of real endeavour and more importantly hints of better things to come. Penalty count was lopsided 15-6 which affected the game and possibly the outcome.
I have to say some comments on here, sound more like Sky pundits doing an autopsy.
You could be Jon Wilkin!
Russ I agree with you about some of the comments on here,I don't know how they have time to take in game, some on here must have been up all night rewinding the video to spot the mistakes their must be a few up and coming referee's on the forum Anyway my take not disappointed because I didn't expect much they tried and put a shift in can't ask anymore. I will wait for Rowleys analysis to see if it ties in with a few on here.

The big difference was the penalty count, hopefully we get that sorted we did struggle prop wise but they worked hard really need king to stay on the pitch. Be good having nofa playing he would of made a difference tonight
Overall if we defended like that we will win more than we will lose

For what it’s worth I thought our effort tonight was excellent. If we can perform like that every week we are in for a good season. That game should give the team confidence for the season ahead. On a separate note I thought the sin-binning of Amir Bourouh was very harsh. Exactly this. Dismal sinbinning cost us (the other penalties didn’t help of course, but this was the tipping point). Great attitude, just wish we had more bodies. Leeds will win nothing with that pack - also good 😊

The problem is the forwards the stats from last night yards made is embarrassing from our forwards!the best metre made was nene with 135 over 15 carries and this will continue every game till we sign some grunt it’s so obvious!

The issue again last night is the pack the stats for the forwards metres made were embarrassing and if we’re not going to invest in more grunt we will lose a lot because we won’t get out of our half again last night 2nd half we hardly looked like scoring and it happened a lot last year our forwards are not big enough and other teams know this and just grind us down!unless we get 2 or 3 scores in front we don’t look like winning!

I didn't expect to win but I'm not sure how, after that performance, you can't be disappointed. The performance changed my expectation. Leeds were there for the taking and, in large, we were the better team. We should have won and it would have been an important two points, away from home, against a team who'll be around us in the table. We played well with ball ok hand, especially in the first half, and showed grit and determination in defence, My disappointment is with the lack of discipline, again, which was a huge issue last year.
I think all the penalties were penalties and that the ref had a good game. I don't agree with the Bourouh sinbin as we hadn't had a warning, but we had given away 3 penalties in quick succession. But, that didn't define the game. The discipline throughout the game, giving Leeds easy field position, did.
There are plenty of positives to build on, including the new signings—Nene was great (except his stint at FB) and Cust looks like he could be really dangerous if we get him earlier ball with a little more space. Outside is clearly our strength and we need to go around teams and stay mobile (we all know we lack grunt). The kicking game was a big improvement on last year, so hopefully that continues, but Sneyd needs to get there for the kick, Atkin shouldn't have been first receiver (they scored on the set after that kick). Our back rowers were strong. The right edge defence looks better with Nene there. The general defence was good (just that one lapse for Handley's length of the field try, but that's a moment to learn from). We also have Mellor to come in who I think will have an impact. I think Shorrocks will also have a big say on our season once he finds his feet and position. He seemed to lack a bit of composite with ball in hand yesterday and played a like he was a prop. I like his toughness and we'll see his skill when he settles. We have Ryan and Nofoaluma to come in to give us additional strike power—I think Ryan needs to play above Cross as he's a better finisher and provides experienced cover at FB if Brierley is ever off the pitch.
But, if we continue to give away double-digit penalties and allow teams into our half so easily, we'll struggle to score a lot of points (always needing to go the length of the field) and close our games (fatigue and defending our line too often). It needs fixing, and I know some will say it's only the first game, but this is an issue that goes back to last season. It could be the difference between making the six or not. We have a 17 that is capable.
Rohan Smith was moaning at HT when Jenna asked him a question. He claimed we scored on the back of a questionable refereeing decision. He's just trying to deflect attention away from what was a poor performance by them, measured against their expectations. I'm not sure he'll see the season out. If we'd have won, the fans would already be on his back.

Leeds will win nothing with that pack - also good 😊 If we add king and another decent prop it’s a different game With King it might have been 20 penalties 🤣😉 He is the one that can give some go-forward and momentum though. He could be one of the best props in the league if he using his brain a little more. There was a game last year, I think it was Cas at home, where he was phenomenal, and you just think, why can't this King turn up every week, because it'd give Sneyd and Cust lots of space to operate.

Be good having nofa playing he would of made a difference tonight Overall if we defended like that we will win more than we will lose I know that this will no doubt annoy the "We need a prop!" posters but given that we didn't have King last night that was an excellent performance.
I also know that there are SRD fans who subscribe to the lack of discipline argument and the ref wasn't bent or biased but the penalty count given how close the game was makes it look that way. Given the trade off of position and possession that kind of difference shouldn't happen or be as great as it was last night.
The rules were more or less correctly applied but as always when and where,on the pitch, can make all the difference.
And Good grief! For a forum where there's alot of moaning about the moaning there's alot of moaning on here about a decent away performance!

Funny thing is Singleton had to do his boot up after one of Leeds players threw it 30 yards away so it stopped the game for longer
