Well be interesting to see what that poor performance has taught us. We need to go in fighting not expecting
Burgess will be better, Sidlow and maybe Dixon back?

I’m not sure dixon makes any difference. Potentially Wright starting at sr with sidlow on the bench. But tbh I know he didn’t get involved much last night and made a massive cock up from the kick off, but I’d still have stone he wasn’t as bad as some are making out and if you watched the game last week you’d see how good he was on d and made some top runs. Greenwood is still a option aswell

We've done well at Warrington recently, especially when we're not expected to win. If things click I think we can give them a run but we do look a few weeks off the pace with our timings of the pass, run and catch. Win or lose I just hope to see that the performance is there and that we're making progress. We weren't great last year until mid season, hopefully it comes sooner this year, but there are plenty of games left to make the top six.
I do fear for our right edge against Williams. I would much rather see that edge hold as a like and slide, and if necessary back off at an angle (can't do it on the line I know) towards touch and keep squared up to Warrington's three-quarters, instead of Cross or Sio rushing out to shut down plays. Williams has a wonderful short kicking game and is a great passer. He can exploit us rushing out with a pass over the top, cut out pass, or kick in behind and with the pace of Dufty joining the line, he doesn't need much more than half a step on you and he's gone.
Stone is only 25 and hasn't played SL before. New team, new systems. I think he's done okay and has run some decent lines. The signs are there that he'll come good.
As has been discussed much, we need a prop, and Hopefully if Sidlow is back it'll give us some extra grit up front. He's 35 though and not a long term solution. Shame we lost Luckley, I can't imagine he was on a lot of money and wasn't in KRs first 17 last week... I'd rather have him than the abundance of SRs we've signed. I'm hoping there will be money to bring somebody in short term later in the season. There's also the possibility of signing someone from the championship. Maybe a loan, Eseh from Wakefield went great in the Championship, Hull are loaded in the front row and Wigan too.
It's way too early for doom and gloom. I'm not overly worried and think I'm being more reflective and constructive. We have a great squad of players who have shown what they are capable of and I'm sure Rowley will get us back to that.

Greenwood and Borouh gone on loan to Barrow for a week so presumably won’t be in the reckoning for Thursday

I'd love to see James stay fit for a full season and see how he goes. I suspect, given the makeup of our squad, Rowley has identified him as a prop for this year. He's big enough, must be 17/18 stone and over 6ft. He's 31 now but doesn't have a lot of 'tread on the tyres' so to speak given he's missed a lot of games. He's always shown potential but never been able to string together a long period of playing.

Well another Thursday game on TV, surely we cannot be as bad as last week. I am concerned about our forwards dealing with Warrington, if we are not able to improve our defence then we will be in for a long night.

From last Thursday I think it’s more about attitude…we didn’t seem to want to do the hard things inc tackling and covering…we seemed to be just setting up for tries and we’re found out by a team that did graft anf cover. Hopefully we’ll play like we did against Leigh or Saints in th3 semi and earn the right to score.

I wish Greenwood and a couple of others expired last season so we could have kept Luckley instead. Sangare seems to have stepped up a notch this year. He looks like a great signing for Leeds. Sue has looked good too. I think we'll bring players in during the season. We did last year and those players worked out great. |

We were. So many ill advised passes and attempted offloads. Cross sticks in my mind after Lafai ripped the ball one on one to give us a set of six on KR"s line, first tackle, Cross loses the ball. Just take the tackle 2m short of the line. We were 8 down with plenty of time left and a full set of six to go. No need to try and get your arm out or over-fight to get to the line. I'm not singling him out as there were numerous errors across the board but I thought that play summed up our evening in a nutshell.
I definitely favour Warrington this week but I'm not zero confident. I do think we can do a snatch and grab there.

That Gerrard injury really hurts us. I hope Sidlow is back otherwise we'll be super light against Warrington. What's Greenwoods contract situation? I hope it's up this year. Nothing against him as a player but Salford can't afford players with such limited availability as out squad is small. I assume Sarge moves on this year too and I imagine he's on a decent wage. I hope he's okay. All we've heard is that he's ill and there is no timeframe. When I heard that I think either something serious physically, like cancer, or mentally with depression. I really hope it's something more innocuous.
