Just looking at the Wire thread and a couple of fans call out their lack of 2nd Rows, one states they want Longstaff back. Interesting to see if he gets game time with us.
Wonder if we can swap a 2nd Row for a Prop.

I noticed that. They reckon they have one too many props, especially when Dudson is back and McGuire is back at LF to free up Harrison for prop

Hope our right edge, esp Cross, has sorted its defensive pattern out…Matty Ashton looks good.

That was one try JJR the rest of the KR Tries were either individual errors or Abdul being given all the time he wanted to kick. Ashton has a mistake in him under the high ball at times I'd be putting it up. Our kicking on the last tackle last week was dreadful probably more to do with the field position on the kick but the amount of times SKD ran it back 20 yards catching it on the full was a joke. There is nothing wrong kicking it into touch if a high hanging kick is not on. In fact against Wire we want to be turning their big forwards around.

That's the area that worries me most weeks, especially against Warrington though. Ashton has plenty of pace. Dufty also have pace to burn and will be chiming in as the third pivot and Ratchford is a very consistent performer. Dufty doesn't need much more than half a step to get around someone who shoots out the line. Then you have the short kicking game of Williams who can expose aggressive defence with a kick in behind for the speedsters and, imo, the weakest part of Brierley's game is his positioning for short kicks through the line. I think we are too aggressive on the right edge in trying to shut down plays early and in doing so we leave space for a long pass, kick in behind, or a quick pass that beats the rushing defender. More patience is needed at times.
That said, I also think we can get at their edges. The biggest questions for us are: Can we handle the size of their pack, especially early on? Can we cut out the silly penalities from weeks 1 and 2? Will we take better care of the ball? Can we execute? As our timings have been off in the first two weeks.
I'm just looking for an improved performance. Good signs that we are fixing things up. The result is secondary.

I think we've been unusually poor both weeks. In week one Hardaker also consistently catching the ball on the full and returning it to the 30/35 before being tackled. I'd rather the ball be booted out the back, give them 7 tackles and set up a solid defensive line. I really don't understand the bomb when it comes down on your opponent's 20/25. I know they hope for a knock-on but they don't happen often and if your players catches it, what does he do from their? For me, kick it low and to the corner. Take the better field position - it's hard running the ball out of the corner. I think I bomb is better when it's coming down near or on the line.

Having said that we had a poor pre season and a good few injuries Rowley knows the issues and usually fixes them I’m sure we’ll have learnt from last week and at least we won’t go in trying to score from every play and hopefully we’ll concentrate on defence for a while.

Anyone heard how many tickets we've sold for tonight? I'm not expecting to have to fight for a seat for this one if we're behind the sticks in the traditional away end.😁

750 - 1000 fans would be a decent turn out.
Wonder if Sidlow's playing tonight?

I'm at home. Interesting when Jon Wilkin pointed out that 48 of 105 'try causes' last year were from Cross or Sio. I hope they are more patient today.
