Tiny Club StatementThought I'd start the new stadium thread off here. Looking positive on the face of it.

Just glad that Salford City FC haven't got it. Hopefully it opens the door for Sebastian Gerrard.

I said what I think on the other stadium thread.and that is some on the forum wanted to know something well now they do.So now we have something posotive don't let us start looking for negatives,we now know we are staying where we wanted be.In my opinion their is know way in the memory of man that we will have the status quo ie paying know rent that will not be happening Dont let's start turning a positive into a negative.

I am now feeling definite (cautious) optimism.

What a fantastic outcome (so far) for the club ... I would have thought the Council got a good deal for buying Peel's half of the stadium as I can't imagine all councillors would have been keen on the cost ... well done to the Mayor and Council (so far!)

Wonder if Gerrard is involved in the deal or if it is just Salford CC, Gerrard has been quiet which is strange if his bid has been rejected, it would be acknowledged like Sale/FC did yesterday.

I'm all for a bit of optimism when it comes to SRD so what have you found in the media coverage that's the good bits?

I'm pretty sure the CoSCoS joint venture between the Council and Peel operates at a loss, the income from us, Sale and the other uses can't cover the loan payments and operating costs.
my guess is the Council buy out Peel, then do a back to back sale to Seb Gerrard.
they get rid of the stadum liability that is costing them and receive a capital receipt whilst ensuring the ground remains the base for the club.

I am lead to believe that The Holding Company has transitioned into a Community Benefit Society; something which the Supporters Trust proposed under the then Chair Dave Campbell developed about 5 years ago having done all the groundwork and generated the majority of the links. Presumably this is in readiness for the Share Scheme, again proposed by the Supporters Trust. Interesting times.

Well that might explain the Council motivation.
I still don't see a cause for optimism though!

Come on Russ, one step at a time. Without the Seb Gerrard bid muddying the waters we’d have likely been at ML soon. So take the positives out of staying at the AJ and let things develop.

I would imagine there will be more twists and turns as this progresses. I see that the anti Council crew are gathering momentum and have submitted numerous requests for freedom of information on the purchase proposal. I hope more than anything that this purchase goes through and the stadium becomes a hub for Salford sport. I guess the council would have preferred to get this completed, but Salford FC have shown the petulance of a spoilt child and gone public straight away.
