Sadly for me Salford FC has always been one of Neville’s ego trips. I would love the Stadium to be used by us, Swinton and Salford FC as the start of a Sporting Hub for Salford, moving towards the Red Star Belgrade or Barcelona models. But Salford FC had last season the lowest ave gate in the 2nd Division, so where’s the logic for Neville?
Sale, well just opportunists; they really would be better at say Preston NE ground or back at Stockport, nearer their heartlands….although the way RU is going they are haemorrhaging that much money that one thinks they might not be around in five years.

Sale, well just opportunists; they really would be better at say Preston NE ground or back at Stockport, nearer their heartlands….although the way RU is going they are haemorrhaging that much money that one thinks they might not be around in five years. 1) The class of 92 bought Salford City as they all have strong links to Salford and wanted to put something back into the area. They all wanted to be involved in club ownership and a team like Salford was the obvious choice rather than a random club where they had no affiliation. Citing "ego trips" is a bit petty JJR, which is a bit unlike you normally. 2) The "logic" in buying the AJ Bell was future planning. The Co92 have always said Championship football was their initial aim and only the AJ Bell would meet that criteria without building a new stadium. Success breeds increased crowds and 2000 fans in League 2 could well equate to 5/6/7k in the Championship. You'd also be able to offer clubs with larger fanbases like Stockport/Bradford much larger ticket allocations, not to mention the training/parking facilities that ML doesn't offer. Running at a loss for a few seasons wouldn't hurt someone like Peter Lim who has an estimated net worth of $2.6b. EDIT: Don't forget Neville didn't make the initial approach for the AJ Bell. That was done by Sale, which then prompted Neville to get involved or risk having no suitable ground IF Salford City jumped another division or 2.

SS I’d love to see Salford FC come to the AJ but to me, possibly wh3n I see the Series and occasionally watch him on tv it always seems about him. And linking with Sale against us, ev3n tho our Chairman seemed to support him on the Series, leaves @ nasty taste with me.
I just hope at some stage Sale leave and we can have a wholly Salford enterprise at the AJ. I do go down to ML occasionally and also watch a few York City games and I like the type of football but the spectator base seems v small and I wonder how long the b3nefactor will stay now.

I know hindsight is a wonderful thing, but this could have been perfect for all parties has they got their heads together. The stadium would have been far more profitable if all three teams had played at the AJ Bell or whatever they call it in the future.

Salford City and Sale wanted It on the drip.Sale are 30 million in depth,Salford City's last attendance was under 800 Deals are never secured till the money's paid Were happy some are sad. That's way the mop flops.

Come on Russ, one step at a time. Without the Seb Gerrard bid muddying the waters we’d have likely been at ML soon. So take the positives out of staying at the AJ and let things develop. I appreciate the AJB bit and hope the Seb involvement in the future or ASAP actually happens.
My point was that the optimism seemed a bit much given what might have happened with the Gerrard bid!

Just seen on Blindside, the RU paper, that Sale will be allowed to run/ control the Stadium for 5 years in order to raise revenue, with an option to buy it in 3 years c.newsnow.co.uk/A/1169594775?-44757:31536

Shocking, Sale who are not in Salford have control of a stadium built for Salford and can buy it whilst the City has two professional sports clubs one with an unfit ground and one with no home of their own.

Must be bored - just turned tv on & watching Sale. Never seen the AJ Bell so full, so frustrating as a Solly fan - why don’t the people of Salford support us?? I suppose the Council/owners want it to go to the club which can fill it & make it sustainable - just my thoughts.

Maybe part of the package is we have to play there. That would make sense.

Just read this everyone and though I've stopped watching this is sad but typical news.
If the council have gone with Sale I suppose thtat's a signal for SRD's importance to the local and regional politicians.
It says it all really, so sorry this wasn't better news for you all.
All the best Russ.
