Whether it can be described as pushing for Moor lane or not. The way I remember it the vote was presented to us as Moor Lane or a slow lingering death at the AJB due to the fact the rent would increase to a market rate we would not be able to operate with when others bought the stadium. The other option of moving outside of Salford surely a non starter. With the Information we were provide with prior to the vote, was it not the only option. It's no criticism of Paul King or the board as that was the situation then. If someone else had bought the stadium and increased the rent could we have survived. After the vote I was resigned to going to Moor Lane but from my memory and admittedly I'm just a fan looking on from outside. The situation did certainly seem to change once Gerrard got involved, whether his bid was genuinely realistic or not the conversation did seem to change at that point, perhaps a coincidence but that's the way I remember it. Anyway hopefully the council can resolve the Garrido situation sooner rather than later and we can all move on My recollection was that at that time the only party who were interested in purchasing the stadium was Sale and Salford City. If Salford were to stay there then they would have had to pay a vastly increased rent which they clearly couldn’t afford to do hence the only other option was to move to Moor Lane on the proviso that some of the money the council recieved was to bring it upto SL standard. When this was looked at the cost would have been far higher than the council could pay so they instead looked at alternatives I.e buying the stadium them selves and protecting the club and the work they do in the city.

I think Alex has been alright when fit so you're being a tad harsh there.😉

Garrido is a Tory tw*t. Who's up for a rendition of the "Build a bonfire" song at the Wire game on Sunday?🙂
"Build a bonfire, build a bonfire, Put Garrido on the top, Put his Mrs in the middle, And we'll burn the f*cking lot!"

I have no problem with anybody objecting as it usually strengthens the case after an proper assessment, in the long run
I think it’s sometimes called ‘democracy’

"I think it’s sometimes called ‘democracy’" Thought, looking at several counties (don't BRIC it) that this was unfashionable now

Gobshite Garrido should note that the Water Park Resort is pressing ahead over at the Trafford Centre. That additional development will see expansion in development terms in the area of the stadium and beyond.

"I think it’s sometimes called ‘democracy’" Thought, looking at several counties (don't BRIC it) that this was unfashionable now It's more than unfashionable it's the fish and chip chip paper of the 1960's.
It's become one of those parodies of itself that happens when you take all the rights away but leave everyone with a choice between the Tories or their A team.

The "if the Stadium doen't work SRD are in big trouble" seems to be doing the rounds.
The trouble is between the cut and paste sensation journalism and fans of other clubs on antisocial media it's difficult to tell who's trying to help, showing concern or sticking the knife in.
If they're trying to influence the decision in our favour they've obviously never met Garido or spent time searching for evidence of Tories with a conscience let alone one that doesn't use local issues as simply a means to end.

Speaking to TheBusinessDesk.com, Cllr Robin Garrido claim the Red Devils have had “every opportunity” to take advantage of a “free stadium”.
“Paul Dennett (Mayor) believes in a socialist state owning public buildings. He complains the Council has no money and is suffering from austerity.
“I say the money would be better spent on repairing pot holes in the roads and on community facilities.
“Salford Red Devils Rugby League club need to get their own house in order and make the club self-supporting, they’ve had every opportunity to make themselves successful with a free stadium that is usually only a third full.”
Wow the Russians and Chinese must be on their way according to Mr Garrido. His statement about the Mayor itself should be enough for him to be dismissed as a serious politician.A real I don't care a sod attitude there

The act of a desperate person who knows they are not going to be employed in their current role for much longer.

Says it all this....
Sadly although we should get rid of the Tories but the triuth is, if it talks like a Tory and Walks like a Tory, it's probably a member of the PLP.
I do think that RL social media is not much better on this issue, very many would be happy if we disappeared altogether. Just like Toulouse they'll be a fair amount of celebration if rumours are true that they're in real trouble.

That "free stadium" he refers to in classic short term and twisting history toryism is characteristic of Westminster politics and SRD and all of us should be grateful that the mayor is not one of Keith's parachute candidates either.
