Well, that paints a pretty dismal picture for the weekend!
If Gerrard just wants the stadium it might as well be sale who benefit I suppose.
We'll all be very cosy at Moor Lane even if the RFL relegate us using that as a pretext.

He wants the stadium that’s why he’s talking he don’t want to own the rugby club as for the council we have had a lot of help over the years not paying rent paying not much rent, there’s other areas above the rugby club the council need to concentrate on the way the country is right now

Of course the Council has other priorities to invest in, however their stake in the JV with Peel will no doubt be accruing money with the land being sold around the stadium. In addition the stadium sale will generate even more revenue if it happens.
Away from Rugby League I see a council allowing mass development of expensive private housing estates especially around the Swinton/Walkden/Worsley areas of Salford with limited affordable housing provision comparatively in these areas which is not great for local communities. If it happens I hope the stadium is sold for the benefit of community, not to those parties who can simply afford it, community assets are far too important in these times.

Yes if the Council takes the opportunity offered and works with Gerrard, the Stadium could and should be a central focus for sport in the City. Every other City has one so what’s wrong with us.
This would help develop and maintain high level sport in the City and the health and well being affects of sport are undeniable. Once this has been established I understand Gerrard will turn his attention to the Club; do I blame him for that, no, because presumably he doesn’t see benefit in the ML move.
So let’s behind Maurice and the petition……in terms of the overall budget for the City, small beer but in terms of potential benefits, if done properly, massive and a no brainer

Just hang on a moment. There are two very clear messages here.
Gerrard wants the place but not SRD
Or Gerrard wants nothing to do with SRD but wants the stadium
Either way the Council sells to the highest bidder and 125+ years of history down the toilet. What's not to love?
ML it is then!

From what I understand in the confusion, Gerrard wants the Stadium, then if he gets it will invest in the Club. But ….??

If the glass is half empty JJR I'm not a glass half anything
My feeling is that Gerrard may buy the stadium but the lack of any firm ground beyond this and this leads me to several conclusions, based on him being a businessman:
He will want to secure as large a profit from the purchase as possible.
Sale is the most likely client/renter to give him that.
If he wants to charge a big rent in order to make gains on his investment it would be unlikely that SRD could afford it.
The whole thing at the moment strikes me as a bit imaginary, a step too far to believe.

Too confusing for me Russ but as a City with an iconic stadium, I think the City and Gerrard should work together for the good of community sport in the City. Salford Quays works beyond all imagination and all I can see if Sale buy the stadium is that the community loses; the Neville bit with ave crowds of 2000 paying low entrance is just about his ego.
But the train rumbles on into the night and the seagulls still follow the trawler.

I think he will be looking to maximise income so guess that will include Us, Footie, Sale, Horse Jumping, Darts, Greyhounds, Coffee Mornings, Wakes, Weddings, Antique & Collectors Shows, Auctions, Concerts, Pop Festivals, Speedway etc. Never a dull moment for Mr Gerrard I would guess. AJB is a Bargain Mr G.

Attendances Salford FC. 2700 Salford RLFC 6041, and Womens team in a final, probably 500 missing from AJ Moor Lane capacity 5000 and a few Is somebody hiding something? Spot on JJR, Moor Lane offers nothing long term as we cannot grow unless it is redeveloped which will not happen. For us to thrive and build on yesterday's amazing results the AJ Bell is a must - all we can do is pressure the council to do the right thing for our City. Kingy and Co are 'Building for the Future' with initiatives, watch this space.
