I was told that Salford City wanted to buy the ground over 25 years.

Not sure about Salford FC and their payment schedules, it is out of our hands. To me as a Salfordian and a Fan this is a simple play. In addition to singing and sharing the petition, all citizens and fans living in Salford can ask their MP's either; Barbara Keeley or Rebecca Long Bailey to lobby Salford Council to do the right thing by our City and Professional Rugby League Club, The MP's offices have a duty to support our local communities and Rugby League in Salford. To lose access to a stadium that the council built for Salford Reds and more importantly the city would be failure by the Council.

Yes MTR we are a City and as such should support our local teams Salford Red Devils, Salford FC, Swinton and all the other sports clubs, professional or amateur. Buying the Stadium and developing it in a true partnership way as a City Sports Centre is surly the way forward.
If the Council is willing to pay £4m to each of us and Salford City surely, perhaps in partnership with Gerrard there’s a better deal. As for Sale, they have no link to the City, don’t want any, are just opportunists so get to Sale and find your base; not our issue guys.

If it is real and viable we need the Gerard deal to prosper, the council have no loyalty to Sale just our local communities and Sports Clubs. If the council turn there back on that, it is unacceptable, but all we can do is lobby them, nearly 9,000 on the petition the club launched so that is continuing to build.

MTR, it just seems a small amount over a number of years for a City of our size, and the benefit to the City will be massive
We need Les Hough here; leader of Council with Peter Henry who decided to develop Salford Quays. When asked how it did it, Les replied..’we got it wrong to get it right, then we got the donkey down the field’ In other words we don’t know but we grafted learnt on the job and achieved it…now that’s men with vision and the balls to do it. Exactly what we’re lacking.

I wrote to Barbara Keeley a few weeks back about the future of the stadium and got a response. Our MP's office has written to Tom Stannard, Chief Exec at Salford City Council to ask that he outlines the stadiums current position and plans on how the stadium will be of benefit to the city, communities and sports clubs of Salford moving forward. The MP's office will respond when there is a response from Salford CC. The more people that sign the petition, share it and lobby the greater chance of a positive outcome for Salford RFL.

Brilliant MR. Pity the Club doesn’t show the same initiative Wonder why they aren’t campaigning…or are they dead set on ML?

Brilliant MR. Pity the Club doesn’t show the same initiative Wonder why they aren’t campaigning…or are they dead set on ML? If anyone lives in Eccles its worth giving Rebecca Long Bailey an email or request to lobby Salford City Council (I am not under her ward as an MP so cannot request her support) www.rebeccalongbailey.com/getting-help/As for your question JJR then I can only assume it is because talks are on-going. I know for certain that the Club Stakeholders have met Gerrard around his approach around 5-6 weeks ago. The finances of the stadium are complex and no doubt its a slow process on reaching an outcome with public interest too. I doubt the club are accepting of Moor Lane, just getting on with the day to day and managing our injury crisis - plus the outcome is beyond their control without Gerrard onboard. As fans all we can do is make our voices heard, sign the petition, spread the word, lobby support and ensure Salford CC (Tom Stannard) knows we want Salford RFL at that stadium.

I really despair with people like jjr again little snipe about club, the reality is its about attendances if we were getting 5000 it would be fine cos extra money would mean we would thrive but gates of 3000 we are very close to breaking point I have watched over 40years and attendances have always been poor the public of salford have never really backed rugby and people cnt complain when we either go bump or leave super league, I believe Hull are about to test us further by offering big money and transfer fee for croft, the club is losing money at an alarming rate

Just an observation lh that the Club don’t seem to be pushing the Petition or anything to do with the Gerrard bid. Seems odd and I wondered why. Think the ave attendance is a little over 4000

Yes the attendance is that but not all paying customers with the catalan game we will have had three games with kids free and we had a game with a deal for the armed forces as for the Gerrard bid why would you back something where he's not forthcoming to the board about his plans and the council say he's not been back in touch since?!

I have my contacts yes! Just a really worrying message coming out at the minute regarding cash flow we just dnt have that money in us high profile people have been spoken to the likes of ged Mason and such big money men but no ones interested, the club have the feeling the council just want to see us bleed ourselves dry and then can say it's not our fault!
