Being said that Sale are buying the AJ Bell outright with the possibility of Salford FC ground sharing.
Where does that leave us?
Bit worrying this.

After money they ploughed into the Peninsula Stadium, would be a strange move for the football

They were building a stadium last year. Won't happen, they don't have the money. Some suggestion on ****ter that Salford City might chip in - why would they do that? They've just spent money developing Moor Lane and they don't fill that yet (and probably never will). Next.

Totally relaxed about this. Can’t see Salford Council effectively kicking us out of the AJ Bell by selling it to Sale. We’ve had worse things to worry about like whether Inu will buck up 😉

Salford city FC will move in eventually to AJ. Moor lane does not meet regulations as they progress up the football league so they need a bigger stadium. There is no way the council will sign off on another 20k+ stadium in the city so they will eventually have to strike a deal with FC.
I'm not convinced on this rumour yet. Where is it in B&W we are having the rent quadrupled? Why would the council back this knowing it effectively ends the club?

We must surely pay fairly decent rent to use the facilities, it's not in Sale's interest to stop a decent revenue stream I would have thought.

Not having control of practice facilities, when to use the ground, signage and all the other imponderables would make us just v poorly treated tenants, although we could possibly have an escape clause in a new contract.
The best outcome to me would be a Salford Community Sports Stadium with amongst others Salford City but without Sale. It could then be developed with presumably some of the surrounding land into a centrepiece for Sports City Salford. Maybe a dream but certainly doable if the will is there.n

Firstly, last time I checked it out we weren’t actually paying any rent. Salford Council made provisions for that. Secondly,I really can’t see that the Council would want to be seen to end our involvement in a stadium built for a Salford Club, particularly one in Sale. Third,I don’t think Sale want to be here, except as the least bad option for them. The issue will be Salford City, who tick most boxes but their control freakery ,ie Neville, could cause them problems. I see Peel, unusually,as the junior partner here as it was a political project which still shows a big loss in the Council’s books
PS this post might not age well,if I’m wrong

Yes intriguing BR, probably depends, as usual on political will. And we're told that not all councillors politically support the Club and its apparent subsidy. Sale seem to have explored other avenues, and apparently drawn a blank and do have good financial backers to further develop the stadium and perhaps overcome the parking issues etc Neville has money, always grandiose ideas, which does trouble me because his ideas often don't come to fruition but he causes mayhem. My thoughts are that if Salford City are really getting involved then it should be with us snd the City, and not Sale; hence my thoughts I don't think a triumberate using the Stadium would work in our favour, in fact quite the opposite.
But you seem to have the right connections for information

The pitch couldn't handle three different sports, overlapping, and used all year long.

If Sale want to buy it, they will get backing from a number of sources outside our city. But then they would have to put up with political masters who (on the whole) do not jump to old boy/RU strings. This MAY put off those backers as they will not want any limitations on control (read: make money/kudos) I never understood their move away from Stockport except for the hostility of the County fans. Sale's bosses are normally arrogant in ignoring such so why move from a large fan base in the north east Cheshire and south Greater Manchester area? I do not think it has done their fan base any good and, if they declined as a power in RU, it could cause financial issues beyond papering over/using RU support. However they are 3rd in the table and have a bigger club than us. Something we need to keep an eye on as both could end up causing support from beyond Salford's boundaries.

Being said that Sale are buying the AJ Bell outright with the possibility of Salford FC ground sharing. Where does that leave us? Bit worrying this. Where did this come from? Surely couldn't have been more than 6 months since they were building their own stadium on the land near Sale Harriers (or opposite TGI's on Washway Road for the chavs on here😏). Has that fallen through? Oh and I'm sure I've been told on numerous occasions that the Co92 don't do ground shares so doesn't add up to me.

I think my point is simple; if Salford City are getting involved and I understand windbag Neville has been seen down there, then we need to be pro-active and not rely on the good will or otherwise of the Council i.e. Work with the Council, develop a vision for/ with the City and bring others in as appropriate. We have no money to be defensive.
