Really looking forward to tonight.
I looked at our squad and got excited about the fact we can miss a player of the quality of Burgess and still look strong in the backs.
I then looked at saints squad and their potential backs line up made me pass a brick.

I’m torn between this being the best or worst game to have first
Although no one expects us (outside Salford) to get anything, I’m excited to see how set up - I know it’s a different scenario but v Wigan pre season we looked pretty solid and had a good kicking game

I'm nervous as always because;
A) It's the first game of the season
B) It's Saints and they must be (by far) our worst opponents results wise over the SL era. Even when we play great against them we seem to get shafted by a dodgy decision!
Let's be honest, any team that finishes above Saints wins the league this year.
BUT..... I'm not remotely nervous for the season at all which doesn't happen often as a Salford fan!😂 I'm excited about what we're capable of achieving with the strongest looking Salford squad I've seen in 33 years of supporting us.
If we show the same intensity as we did in the friendly against Wigan and we complete our sets then we have a chance. Our pack really needs to stand up and be counted and give us the platform. Smash them and cut out their offload game.... sounds simple when said like that.😁
Anyway, the advantage of WFH and having no afternoon Zoom meetings is taking the opportunity to crack open a cheeky can mid-afternoon.

I'm just thrilled to be watching something than endless boring soccer with VAR, players feigning injury, endless squabbles about offside and handball , players manhandling the ref, glorification of overpaid prima donna (lots of whom are poor), PC picked pundits boring the ass off me with their inane comments and the majority of the games the same, except a change of shirt, where one team attacks and the other puts ten men behind the ball.
Rant over, beer in fridge looking forward to my second third and fourth game of rugby of the day ( sorry guys, one the RU decider)

Surprised to see Kear playing in the centre but he is a dependable player. Looking forward to seeing how we go under Marshall this year. Hope the kicking game is consistent tonight.
