After a bit of reflection thought I'd give my opinion.
I'll say it again but our kicking was poor, extremely poor.
Jacko was oddly quiet again but when it matters he came through and scored the match winning try.
I think I've only ever seen 1 tackle anywhere near that by Evalds, when The General was over we played Leeds in a cup game and he tracked back and stripped the ball from a player saving a sure fry try.
Dudson/Mossop/Walker must take a bow for being the cornerstone last night, JJ is just a constant bundle of energy and is going to be as big of a miss as Hastings is.
Can honestly say I don't think I've seen a more complete performance by a Salford team in my 48 years watching, to nil a team in such a manner is simply outstanding and just shows the backbone the squad has.
Very emotional night to say goodbye to JH, JJ, Bibby, Tomkins and Griffin all have been vitally important in the current run, thanks to every single 1 of them.

MR you never saw Paul Charlton, probably as good a full back as there has been and I heard somebody say it was a Paul Charlton type tackle, which he seemed to do a lot, now that's the ultimate compliment. Agree a complete performance.

Good, solid, professional playoff performance last night. We managed the game really well overall. Evalds tackle in the first half was class. All in all a great night, roll on next week!
The only thing that concerns me ever so slightly is our attack. Does anyone think it has stagnated a little bit since the Hull game? We've only scored 4 tries against Warrington, a couple of those off mistakes, and the other games either 3 or 2. It might be just down to the opposition we've had since then, and getting involved in more arm wrestle type games. I think it bodes well that we have been coming out on top in some of these closer games, compared to some of the ones earlier in the season. I don't think the lower scores matters too much anyway as we've been getting results (Wigan game aside), but I think we're really going to have to click into gear to win next week.

And I'm not normally his biggest fan but got to like how complimentary Powell is here.

A BIG well done last night, totally deserved the win Hope you win the grand final when you get there (Cas fan) Cheers Flyer.👍 There was plenty of banter flying about between both sets of fans last night but I think deep down there's also a lot of mutual respect as we're 2 clubs on fairly limited budgets trying to break up the monopoly of the "Big Four" in Super League. I'm sure had we lost last night we'd have been backing you all the way to the GF as well. I think we've all been guilty in the past of blaming refs, injuries, our own teams performance etc when we lose games as it's often easier than facing the fact we just lost to the better team on the night so it's appreciated when fans take the time to pass on their congratulations.👏 Hopefully last night was the start of some regular play-off clashes between some of the less fashionable clubs in SL as I think we're all getting bored of seeing Wigan, Saints, Leeds names on that trophy!😁 All the best and see you next season.

Agree a complete performance. I must have seen Charlton, though being under the age of 5 I can't really remember I saw him and still recall a tackle he made when two attackers came free towards him in the middle of the park just over the halfway line. He would not get drawn into tackling the ball carrier who could then offload to his support so he backpedalled for about 25 yards until the ball carrier decided to head for the corner. He managed to get in between the two attackers and then overhauled the ball carrier and tackled him into touch in the corner. Perfect.

Thanks x43sflyer much appreciated. I noticed some of the Cas fans applauding the South Stand towards the end of the game which was great to see. All the best for next season.

It was so refreshing to see the Cas fans turn on the moron who threw the flare, he deserved a good shoeing for that.

There was another flare let off towards the bar area in the South Stand after the game too. Really good to see the Cas fans pointing and singing at the idiot who threw the first one on to the pitch!

Was it just me that thought we'd slightly changed our tackle technique yesterday?
Seemed to me that we had someone hitting the hips to drive the player over in the tackle much more than in other games, might be wrong but pretty sure it was an improvement we'd worked on all week.

Agree a complete performance. The difference with Charlton was that in that situation, there was absolutely no doubt about the outcome. He would have given him a bigger start and tackled him into touch without the yank over the touch line. Great tackle, and my first thought was that it reminded me of the great man himself.

Lets not undercook the influence of Rowley on the squad. Very noticeable to see how many hugs he received from the players last night.
