Dearie Me - Unless you are ill Russ - having watched Salford nearly as long as Dixon and traipsed home from a foggy Whitehaven, cold Bridgend, wet Donny, after losing a game I can cope with the loss of probably our best #6 for 30 years, the probability that our players will be paid (from the £65k up front) AND the arrival of an INTERNATIONAL stand off 5 years younger than Rob - I can cope with a

Sorry if I`m missing something here, there are a lot of references to `win/win` situation but it will only work out if Lolohea comes with the attitude that he really does wish to play rugby league. The Leeds forum are suggesting he is rubbish, over weight and his defence is poor, hence they got rid of him in the first year of a three year contract. The money situation is obviously the main issue here and the signing has not improved the team in anyway. Just as we are coming onto the last part of the season, we are 5th and now have to wait if the partnership with Hastings settles in and keep our fingers x. If it was to reduce the money situation and off loading LUI then I`ll have it but otherwise it just does not make any sense in risking taking on someone who has clearly failed at another SL club. Hope I`m wrong. Time will tell if this is a good business/rugby deal.
Lets be clear about this...we have just split up the best halfback partnership in the SL
We are just 6 points from relegation with one of our best players going to a rival club.
Time will tell!

With our points difference, it's effectively 8 points
Half backs come in pairs. Last year Rob L couldn't do it on his own...will he and Myler gel? I'd rather have Hastings and Lolohea. When Watson gets some weight off Lolohea and Hastings sets him up I think we could see something special, like when Hastings arrived last year.
So let's look forward and upward and stop worrying about relegation.

We simply won't know if this a good deal until we see what Lolohea's attitude is, and how he goes with Hastings. Leeds looks a pretty difficult place to thrive right now, so let's cut the lad some slack and welcome him. We've a lot more chance of seeing the best out of him if we really get behind him. Treat him like a fan favourite and he might well become one. Grumble about him all the time and he might not bother. It's clear he's got bags of talent, and as fans our role in helping Watson bring that out is to support him. I look forward to seeing him play in a Salford shirt.

from what i understand, the 65k is an upfront fee, Leeds are also paying Lolehea's wages for the remaining of this year! good business by the club. It is a swap deal and the £65k is a contribution to his wages

How many so called failures at other clubs have Salford taken on recently and turned it round for them ? Lui came over from Oz in fact with a finished label on him. Tui was top points scorer at West’s the other year and led the assists this year. There is something seriously wrong at Leeds and I might be proven wrong but it is going to take more than RL to sort it out. I was gutted when I knew RL was leaving and then when I heard the proposed replacements totally depressed, but now I am more optimistic TL is young and does have a lot of skill, let’s see over the next few games before passing judgement.

I’m pretty enthusiastic about the transfer and think he’ll come good as long as we have a decent scrum half next year. My only concern is the amount of money he’s on - with our budget we simply can’t afford for him not to work out. Nothing is ever risk free and overall I’m pretty pleased - to paraphrase someone on Twitter, if you’d said 18 months ago that our halfback pairing would be Hastings and Lolohea you’d have been committed.

Kallum Watkins now in Oz
So lost their capt, change hooker for a much older version and stand off.....things seem to going downhill rapidly.
The Sinfield situation is like the Cunningham one Leigh had. Lot of pressure on Rob Lui, hope his body holds up.

If we’re looking up the table rather than down, Leeds and Lui could really do us a favour by beating Catalans. Their form is shaky and I think we still have to play them at home. We’ve got more chance of pipping them to 5th than stopping the rise of Wigan in my view.
