For me we go down it will be a minimum 2 seasons before we can even make a dent on the middle 8's.
Said it earlier but the Doc has to dig deep and offer incentives to the players to play out of their skins in the MPG and then prune the current squad, the most important signing though will be a replacement for Sheens and I get a feeling that if we stay up Watson won't start next season as head coach.

Is he allowed to offer incentives outside of the salary cap though? We don’t want to go down that road again.

Pretty sure are not up to full cap so you'd think spending extra is perfectly fine.

With all that has happened and is happening are we still signing the kid from York? No idea. It seems to have gone quiet since we were linked with him months ago.

I think everything signing related will be quiet until everyone knows we have SL status or not.

There are some from the current squad I wouldn't keep regardless and some who must be kept if we are not to disappear into the ether if we do go down.

Hes just been interviewed and said if we get relegated he's staying and if we stay up he's going. Another reason to win the MPG.

He didn't quite say that. He would not answer the question about what would happen if we stayed up. He said that he would need to speak to his family. But I did get the impression that he would go if we stayed up. Why can't he answer a straight forward question?

He won't give a straight answer because he loves the press coverage the uncertainty brings him. He's used the sport as his own self promotion machine. Can't think of any other sport where an individual would receive so much publicity for so little impact.

Then he will be wondering why they cannot sell season tickets for next season. Just come out and say what you are doing, we are all grown up and can take it. We have followed Salford longer than you have been around RL, if you follow/support Salford you are used to lots of lows, we can take it. Tell us

He clearly wants to get off. I suppose the positive is the fact that he will stay if we get relegated,
If we stay up, which I think we will, being an eternal optimist. I think he will look to depart if at all possible.
At least we have a safety net in that he says he joined us as a superleague club and will leave us as such.
All dependent obviously on your trust in any thing he says.
Anyway will be in Hull next weekend with three new fans. Looking forward to an unforgettable day. 😀

You are the panel from Backchat and I claim my Twenty pounds! Being an SRD fan is a blessing and a curse but mostly a curse. No idea why I'm back, just think moth and flame.

His position seems strange at first sight, however it makes sense.
If we stay in SL, his millions can't buy success. He's tried that and failed. However, he will find it easier to find a buyer to take the club off his hands.
If we drop down, he can 'do a Derek' and spend for success. In this case, his millions will make a difference. In the Championship, though, he will probably find it difficult to find a buyer.
So, stay in SL and flog the club vs drop down a level, spend enough to get promoted and then flog the club and depart as the 'hero' who got us back in SL.
It's a win - win for Marwan.

His position is wrong right now but it's never been helped when people make up what they think he's said and create reasons why he's doing what he does. It's wrong because it's not helping and he seems to be neither one thing or the other right now and that's pretty useless to motivate the team immediately or for taking us into a better future. But yet again the reporter put words in his mouth and that became the story!
