At last some much needed good news, the bridge will be open either this weekend or early next week.
Now to get back to normality the bad news is Trafford council (for Trafford council read Peel) are trying to get Salford council to adopt it and absorb maintenance costs with the threat that Peel will make it a toll bridge if they don't.

Classic Peel, shake hands with them and you come out a finger short. Seriously good negotiators

Should get them owning the Club! They do know how to run things and make money.
Quite strange with MK, his hotel now owned by the Hilton, companies seem to have dived.

Had some family from Wales staying there a couple of weeks ago and I mentioned about him, they said that explains why the bar is called the Koucash bar. Narcissist much.

Just been over the bridge near the stadium. Sale playing. Seemed about 500 in the West Stand at 8.30 and about 5,000 on the motorway and side roads. Total chaos. Mind you at least watching the match from the bridge is free!

I think it appalling what Peel are doing, they take enough out of the North West, millions in profit each year own half of the North west, tax exile living in the isle of Man paying very little or no tax & expecting us the tax paying public to foot the bill. I hope Salford & Trafford go after the highway robbers in the form of Peel, they have my support.

Wonder if Salford and Trafford council could say to Peel ok make it a toll bridge, we will then impose a toll to exit the bridge at both ends. Stalemate.

Roadworks notice updated on site today saying works will be completed on 12th November. Not sure if that includes the bridge or not. We live in hope

Call their bluff on this. Toll bridges only work where they are the only alternative to a lengthy detour or delay. Put tolls on it and, when you factor in cost and any delays going through toll barriers (or having to register and pay online if its an ANPR system), traffic will just continue to use the high level bridge as it does now, and peel will be left with an expensive white elephant on their hands to go with the reputational damage that would accompany such an outcome

We live in hope Found out last night that this because the emergency services have put pressure on the construction company/council to get the A57 sorted ASAP as peoples lives are being put in danger from the terrible congestion, last night every road leading from Eccles to the Brookhouse roundabout was still blocked solid at 19:15. They are working overnight to finish the resurfacing and realigning work, not sure though if that means the bridge (though full functional) will be opening over the weekend also. Means that the debt collectors and administrators can get to the stadium so much easier ;-)

I'm glad I don't have to travel that way home any more. When the bridge is up and running eventually travelling from leafy Cheshire to games you'll not be able to leave the M60 at Brookhouse, the plan is to close it to clockwise traffic and make everyone go via the new bridge, we (local cabbies can only see this causing much more congestion near the Trafford Centre, but serves you right if you go to that soulless monstrosity.
