Yes he came on right near the end, not sure who for? Tomkins did big minutes yesterday, thought Obrien might play back up hooker but if I remember correctly krasniqi came on for Tomkins? Missed brinning massively. Thought Niall was great yesterday, not sure obrien would have stopped some of the tries evalds did. I really like them both though, it's a nice problem to have! Thanks Gadger......not plucked up the courage to watch the tape of the game yet.

Does anyone know if Greg Johnson got a knock prior to the McIlorum try? Watching the highlights he looked very laboured in his pursuit to prevent the score. Not too sure on that one, I personally think he always looks a bit laboured these days since he's bulked up, a bit disproportional.

See we play Wigan away the week before the Cup final, that should help us, we can put everything thing into it as we'll have 2 weeks off and they'll have one eye on the final and maybe they'll put a 'Leeds-type' team out. I'm only interested in the 2 points, but it's also an opportunity for our fans to 'Duff'* up Burgess with come choice chants.
*Did y'gerrit, eh?

Carnster to me, when I looked at the replay in slow-mo, the Salford player looked v v likely to score whenTomkins pushed him away. Certain to score can never really be in any situation. To me it seemed a benefit of the doubt time. Tomkins thought he was going to score, without a doubt.

That's a valid point, if the defensive player commits a foul because he thinks the attacker will score then surely that should be what matters in the eyes of the people in authority.

One thing which still bugs me is why on earth did we not go for goal with 5 minutes left against 12 men?
I agree though about cheating Samkins - it was a penalty try & 8 points for us without a doubt though lets be fair - Wigan were the better side.
Also Child had a good game imo.
Evalds - brilliant in defence but very weak in attack - just wish he could join the line - inject pace & create the extra man like somebody else in the team.
Ive always been a Dobson fan but he`s been poor since rested at Wire - maybe GOB could pick up some of the maestros tricks & learn from him next season.
For me Logan was the best Tomkins on the field yesterday - not Sam.

The attack missed Lui and Brining much more the O'Brien yesterday. Lui also covers the centre position in defence as well. What we didn't do well in defence was get on or over the edge of offside like Wigan do every week..
In attack I never understand why the forwards are just biff and bang all the time. Think we need a bit more turn and pass. Maybe we missed Flanagan for that and perhaps when him and McCarthy get going together we might get better interplay between the forwards

Nothing much more I can add on what's already been said - great effort from all the players, we were just beaten by a better Wigan team on the day, who took their chances and seemed to manage the game really well. They're one of those teams which just knows how to do it in the big games, and that was the difference I think. We're getting there, slowly but surely, but it's going to take some time. I think the team can take a lot of confidence from the game yesterday; hopefully it'll put us in good stead for the Super 8s. If we play our cards right, we could have another crack at a semi final in September - yesterday will have been a good experience if we manage to do it. Great following and noise made by our fans, top atmosphere . Also, does our top 8 finish mean we enter the Cup a round later next season? Yes it does. Hopefully we can make these semi finals a regular thing! So we're only two games away from the semis? Easy!

Watson has said he's happy for them both to fight it out for the fullback spot as the competition between them brings the best out in them.

I know you are Nials Dad but you will find that many on here do not agree with you at all.

To me it seemed a benefit of the doubt time. Tomkins thought he was going to score, without a doubt. You have to be honest and look at it rationally. It's a bit like how the law courts work. There is varying percentages of 'if' McCarthy had scored. It certainly wasn't zero and it wasn't 100. The trouble is, it will nearly never be 100, and if it isn't the decision is justified. There's always going to be a grey area that depends on interpretation. If this grey area exists then a decision will neither be right or wrong. It will be the correct decision under those circumstances. Maybe that isn't satisfactory enough but it is the fairest way for these things to be decided. In my opinion, the decision was correct. McCarthy was unfairly impeded, but neither I, or anyone else could CONCLUSIVELY say that McCarthy was going to score. He may have done, but he may not have done and that is where the ambiguity lies.
