A loss - but we made the super league and world champions dig deep, even though they were at pretty much full strength. Effort was there. With a few more big games like that, we'll learn how to win them.
Proud of the team.

I was immensely proud of our efforts today.
Wigan beat us because they performed better than us. Simple as.
It was a good semi-final. Close and passionate. We just fell short.
Hopefully, the players and staff will hold their heads up high this evening as they tried their hearts out. No real bad performances for me, just the ebb and flow of two teams going at each other. It was officiated well, the crowds were great, and the players tried their hardest. Hats-off to Todd Carney who almost made the difference today in a game where he needed to show his class. Two top sides going hammer and tongue at each other. It wasn't to be, but for forty-odd minutes the dream nearly came true.
Well done to the club, the players, and the fans who were loud and proud.

Hats off to all involved. No complaints. I called 2 things wrong. Thought James Childs would be hopeless. In fact we had the better of the decisions,including Thaler as video ref. Thought Obrien should have played but Evalds kept us in the game with his cover tackle.

We are a couple of players short of being a really good team. Wigan have that winning mentality which comes from being in semi finals and finals. Our injuries caught up with us today and having such a small squad means we were at a disadvantage from the start. We still gave a full strength Wigan team a mighty scare. Sam Tomkins sin binned and given motm well done the BBC. Proud of the team and the fans, hope some of them newbies return to see a game at the AJB

Brilliant following today and hopefully it'll encourage some to have some more of it. Thought the Tomkins sin bin may have been bit harsh. Looked to be competing for the ball but how the hell did Sam Powell get away with that 3rd man knee tackle on Tasi??

A great effort by the boys against a much stronger Wigan team than the one that won last years Grand Final. When you consider we had a couple of key players out injured today we really aren't far away. Just hoping the performance and occasion inspires our owner to dig a little deeper and add 2-3 top quality players to make us us a real major force next year.
Not a day for criticism but I think we could improve in a couple of positions when competing at this high level of competition. Just short of one or two players that can break the line in these high intensity fixtures.
Fans were immense and deserve some success. We are closing the gap and just need to add a bit more flair and pace to what we already have. Extremely proud of the team and the passion of our support today.

Just on tram home from town now (with Strongbow in hand!) and can't disagree with what's already been said. That Wigan team lined up with so many internationals but we gave them a great game and we just came up short due to 2 or 3 moments of brilliance on their behalf or slackness on ours. The effort from the players was outstanding and gives me huge hope that we can still cause problems in the Super 8's. If we can make the top 4 that would be an outstanding achievement and I think that this squad of players deserve it 100%. I almost shed a year or 2 at the final whistle but that was more out of pride that sadness. Gutted but nevertheless hugely proud of what the boys did today.
Had post-match drinks with a couple of good mates who (bless their souls) are pie eaters. Guess there must be something in the water as they were complaining about a number of decisions. Just goes to show that even the most sane of pie eaters have a self-righteous attitude!

Thought Obrien should have played but Evalds kept us in the game with his cover tackle. If as you say we had the better of the decisions then it should be fairly straightforward for the club to seek explanations for the following: - Lama Tasi was penalised for a high tackle and placed on report. George Williams on the other hand used the head and neck to effect a one on one tackle but was only deemed worthy of a penalty;
- Sam Powell cannonballed tackled Lama Tasi but this was deemed no penalty but merely play on after Tasi had to go off to have is leg strapped but was worthy of putting on report despite several replays showing a clear attack to the knee in a 3 man tackle. Even Denis Betts said it should have been a red card;
- With Wigan reduced to 12 men for Gelling's stupid interference at the restart and the game still in the balance with 6 mins to go and the score 21-14 Carney was taken out with a late hit. I won't call it a tackle because no attempt to tackle was being made it was simply a late barging into. Again deemed not worthy of penalty but put on report because countless replays of the incident showed it for what it was foul play.
Merely because there were some other big decisions with the right call does not mean it was ok to let the above go but that is what Wigan rely on. They play over the line and dare the referee to keep penalising them and he eventually backs away.

So proud of team but today has shown me that we are a quality centre, prop and 2nd row off being a top 6 team consistently.

It's been a very positive season but I'm just concerned how Ian Watson can improve this team going forward. There could be some further development in 2-3 of them but we don't seem to have a crop of quality youngsters waiting in the wings like other clubs. It's not a criticism but more of a concern that we could struggle to improve on what we have done this year if we pick up some injuries. For this reason I think we need to keep the momentum by really strengthening the squad for 2018.

If we can bring in 4-5 new faces in as opposed to the 10-12 of previous years then we can build. Think an annual overhauling of squad does nothing. If we can improve 1% next year then job done. Given we massively exceeded expectations this year we have to be more than satisfied.
