I think it's going to be a hefty punishment irrespective of whether it was a racist comment or not.
If Ryan Bailey heard what was said you'd hope he would clarify it with the RFL disciplinary panel before the sentence is dished out.
Toronto's Jack Bussey has been given Grade B Strikes with elbow/forearm (EGP not available) and Bob Beswick given a caution for striking with his knee. A bit frustrating really as Toronto could afford to lose half their squad to disciplinary and still win by 50 points in their league.
Looks like Evalds is going to be featuring a lot more in the next few games.

If the RFL give him a lengthy ban i think it could be the end of Carney at Salford or even playing in England. Who would play in a sport who accuses you of being racist.

He received a ban and carried on.
I'm not suggesting for a moment that the 2 are the same but,if Carney vehemently denies it yet is banned,I think he'd carry on.

Two issues on the above arguments:
if Evalds does get a temporary berth at another club (as reported in the media), we may not be able to play him,
and I feel that the referee's report will be treated far more weighty than any players' words: Mr Smith has a proven standing*.
Sadly, I feel rossy may be right: hell, can't we ever get to Summer without a trauma.
*For those who feel I am making a malicious comment, I am aware of Mr Smith's history.

To be honest if he is proven guilty I think we should cut all ties. The club doesn't need the bad press that this will bring, and if we were to stick with him we would be seen to underplay the seriousness of the issue.

I really think there's a difference between him being found guilty by the RFL and whether he actually said it. Fat and black could easily be confused,and Ryan Bailey would be pissed off at either. Just not convinced that he'll receive a fair crack of the whip. One thing I do agree with is that if it can be shown that he did say 'black',without any doubt,then we should let him go. I hope not,though |

Does anyone know if Carney and Bailey have any previous (Bailey does seem to have previous with most SL players)?
Strikes me that if Bailey knows Carney didn't say it then Toronto should release a statement to that effect and the whole thing would go away before the RFL witch hunt could gain momentum.
Do think that if he's found guilty we've seen the last of him playing in a red shirt. Ironically it's the likes of Toronto who'd most likely throw him a lifeline if he does get a big ban.

I think the whole incident is laughable! Surly if Salford have asked for a postponement suggests our club is unhappy about the situation. Look at the recent events Justin Carney was incorrectly punished for touching the referee but we see many examples since with no punishment, we almost have a kangaroo court. I hope RFL are unable to prove the case & Salford fight his case all the way, good publicity or bad, I am fed up with the inconsistency ruining our game. |

Surely with a charge of this magnitude (possible civil charges could in theory be brought) a special hearing should be conveined which would allow for a longer investigation and deliberation into the circumstances.
The RFL opens itself up to serious consequences if they find Carney guilty and his guilt is then disproved in a court of law as feel that the club would then pursue all legal options. Potential fines and very damaging press for the RFL and/or Salford in all this.

Not too sure if there's any truth in this but I've been told.....
Rumour is they have sufficient evidence he's getting his affairs in order contract getting terminated he's going back to oz to be with his kids signing for Newcastle.
Just hope it doesn't make Judge Rinder.

Thought he married a girl from Yorkshire? Pretty sure I've seen Twits about seeing his kids regularly.
Can't see the NRL letting him sign, they have an entity called the integrity unit who will surely not allow him to be registered by Newcastle.
