With a short turnaround we go to Wigan on Friday, my assumption 100% is that Lafai will be out based on what Rowley has said post Wakefield. I don't think we can afford to start Atkin at Loose v Wigan, their forwards and centres may run riot, we need to keep tight in defense, I'd go with the following 17.
Brierley Sio Cross Costello Williams Croft Syned Olmondroyd Ackers King Watkins Stone Wright
Dupree / Sidlow / Longstaff / Atkin
No need from Rowley ball from the get go, just settle into the game and earn the right to play. We are not fancied with injuries and its Wigan away so the pressure is on them, the Wigan attack has also been indifferent the past two games.

As you say MTR it’s a completely different challenge on Friday…we can play with abandon (Rowleyball) as we did against Warrington or we can be a bit more circumspect and contain like the 2 nd half against Wakefield (Watsonball)…I’m guessing Rowleyball😉
And of course Longstaff gives us a bit of extra cover in the backs but potential for Hellewell, Dixon, Gerrard, Greenwood, Lannon returning or more game time for Addy….awash with forwards coming back soon🤣.
And yes Longstaff could cover at centre as Livett used to do…smaller version of Livett but more enthusiasm…but only 21 I think so there for the future if he develops and we decide to keep

Another challenge,I would think the same principles apply you have to earn the right to play, respect the ball when you have it hope you get a fair crack from the officials. But then again the great Joe Louis always said everyone as a plan, it goes out the window when you get hit. All we can ask is they give their best and take it from the it their.

Burgess might be fit so I would put him back in ahead of Williams. Leave Costello at centre as Lafai won’t be fit I’d leave Atkin at loose. Hull forwards are as big as Wigan's and he managed more than ok there and i don’t think he was a problem against Wakey.
I’d have Addy on the bench ahead of Longstaff
Basically same team as last week if no changes in who’s fit

As Rowley stated; some of the subs are used to get game time into those coming back from injury (Addy last week) so who he uses as Sub depends on fitness of those returning and who he needs to get up to speed….he also stated the problem with that is that he can only play those returning from longer term injury for limited time……Hellewell, Gerrard, Addy, Dixon might all be in contention …but if he needs to use his bench properly he’ll have to go with those who have had good game time already…Stone Longstaff Atkins

Agree Costello needs to start v Wigan, he was our best back 1-5. I don't think we can leave Atkin at 13, Wigan like to play 4 forwards on the bench - We need to contain them early on not play Rowleyball, I'd have Atkin on the bench. I think I'd start Addy at Loose forward for his workrate. Watkins/Wright/Addy 11-13. As I noted after the Wakey game Stone needs to show much more, I'd give a bench spot to Longstaff over Stone this week. Sometimes a really steady forward like Dixon is what you need - he can't be far off and should also be considered though may lack match fitness. Maybe a loan for a couple of weeks will do him no harm. We also have Greenwood (He played well for Swinton at the weekend) and Lannon out of loan, they need to come into contention for Hudds also.

I think Lannon and Greenwood are on two week loans. I guess they could be recalled. I’d have them both over Stone and Addy personally if they’re available and match fit

From what I’ve read Dixon we not only have no money but we need cash from the Council £350,000 to keep going.
Costello and Longstaff not bad cover…it appears we’re still in survival mode sadly

But on a positive note, if we get into the mire, remember Blease still has a Quota spot available and the Supporters Trust once raised the money for Joey Lussick, via the first Crowd Player Funding, around £18,000 in a couple of weeks (after Marwan paid for Hastings)
So I think we’re ok Dixon, but treading water probsbly
