As Rowley said…ran out of troops,…too many busted bodies and people playing in strange positions at the end…AND as usual Wigan never back 10 in last 15 minutes
But brilliant effort, everybody, realising with our lack of money and hence players , should applaud that
We missed having Sarge last night who could have stood in for a 70z% fit Lafai.

What I don’t get jjr is rowley talks about not having bodies then clearly lafai is not fit and Costello who had a good game last week gets left out!lafai will now probably be out a lot longer I just didn’t understand it,I know you want your best players playing but not when there clearly unfit!

As most of us said pre season we have way too many sr and lack depth in most other positions. Dupree was top yesterday but we really need another prop who can back him up.

Strange Lhr I saw Lafai in the gym and had a chat with him, he was moving really well and said he had no problems….presumably he declared himself fit.
Costello good but not in the same class, but yes in hindsight he may have been a better bet…but remember Lafai is world class. Sarge would have been the man last night, but he’s gone and down to 27
We can’t rotate our squad as others do as we have no money and not enough players so it’s one thing we have to put up with in watching the team. Don’t know how Rowley Blease and the trainers, physios do it each week, but brilliant
Great game tho Lhr wasn’t it, just that we were busted for the last 15 and Wigan seem to be allowed to go back only 7 metres which really irks me. I really enjoyed it, hope you did…we’re a top 6 team if we can keep them fit

Going to be a struggle next week unfortunately.

I thought we played really well. Just undone at the end by 2 outstanding players.
Dupree was outstanding again. Croft played well. Stone needs pull his finger out - Wright showed him up in terms of effort and enthusiasm when he came on.
Bourouh, whilst his distribution seems to have improved, sadly just isn't good enough.

Great effort think some fans need to get perspective we are throwing players out there jabbed up and last night last 15minutes it caught up with us ,Twitter fans saying king and jack need to pull there fingers out we shouldn’t be losing like that, but we’re just asking to much of the players we can’t rotate and it showed that last 15 minutes we hit a brick wall!what are peoples thoughts on stone?I’ve been slightly underwhelmed by him up to now might just be me though!just think with the money we have to spend our overseas have got to be spot on

Was always a weird signing tbh I’ve always thought sr was an area we shouldn’t have used an overseas spot or the money on. But he was good for Leigh last year so maybe he will get better in the sun.

Stone needs pull his finger out - Wright showed him up in terms of effort and enthusiasm when he came on. Bourouh, whilst his distribution seems to have improved, sadly just isn't good enough. While I agree Field and French are good players, Borough's effort, or lack thereof, for French's two tried was shocking. The first one, he could see Frenchconibg back across, must have know how big the gap was, yet he didn't step forward to try and close his path of. On the second try you can see him retreating to our try line while the previous tackle is being completed, he should agian see the big gap between where he is retreating and our outside three players. Dupree, who played too many minutes (Sidlow played too much last week so I assume Jack and King aren't 100% ) but was outstanding, busted a guy to try and get to French, Borough had no urgency at all. That's unforgivable for me. Winning but games against the best teams is about effort and execution. And he couldn't have been knackered like others, such as Dupree, he'd had a break and not long since come back on. The third try we could have have been prevented, though Burgess has to run out as we were short on numbers due to a quick PTB from Wigan, he ran beyond the ball and it ended up being passed behind him. I don't know why he ran that deep. If he just stays back another metre he blocks the pass lane. Still, that's just a mistake in the moment, he showed high-effort to try and close it down and you can't be angry with that. It's a learning moment. Borough on the other hand, lacked effort. The team overall though I can't fault. I wanted a performance and would have taken that before the game. After the game I was disappointed as I thought we were the best team. I agree on Stone, but SL is a step up for him in quality and intensity. I think he'll adapt with more experience and time in our culture. Rowley must have seen something to give him the 12 shirt. I thought King.wasnfood again, he'd had a shaky start to the season, but he ran well yesterday, drove his legs, tackled well and the effort was there as usual. The chase back and ball strip. He was also there after they made a break and kicked through, though another player collected the ball. We'll definitely be a force once we're back to ful strength. Ackers and Partington are big misses, plus Gerrard in the forward rotation.

I thought it was going to be a step to far last night, and that proved right.I think we have to be a bit realistic,I am not getting into the why did the coach do this or do that because he is with them all week I think we are going to have ups and downs this season like I have said many times you can only give your best, last night it just wasn't good enough.

I agree with pretty much everything Black Dragon Books said above. I wouldn’t go so hard on Borouh - Lafai should have nailed French for the first try but went for the spectacular hit rather than a solid tackle and Dupreee bought the dummy. Borouh should also have done better. For his second try French just walked through a massive gap when we lost all our shape in defence, almost the only time last night.
Personally I think we should have bigger expectations now. It’s the best squad we’ve had in years, poss in whole of SL. We were by far the better team and we should have won that game. We were gassed in the last 10 minutes but with the field position and possession we had we should have been another try or two clear which would have won us the game. What French did for Wigan one if stars should have done for us. Wigan were poor.
I wonder if it’s a mental thing with our team. I’m not sure we believed we could win that game last night. We were playing Wigan teams of the past in our heads rather than the one on the pitch in front of us. If that had been Huddersfield, Hull or Cas we would have taken them apart.
None of this is to fault the effort which was fantastic and not one player had a bad game. Just the odd decision here and there in attack and defence that made the difference. We did miss Ackers, he’s pretty much our most important player these days.
I don’t but the ‘people playing out of position’ line. The only one moved was Watkins who went to centre where he had a storming World Cup playing for England.
But it’s a positive that we are disappointed with a narrow loss, it shows how far we’ve come. Only complaint is that we didn’t get the win.

Here's my problem, we have Lafai playing with a knock plus others, Rowley talks about losing troops he picks the team. I have no issue in losing to Wigan away if Costello, Halliwell, Williams, Longstaff all get game time, Bloody Hell... if we are that desperate get Lannon and Greenwood back from Swinton on loan. So we had choices yesterday - the coach choose to roll the dice and it backfired. I'll take a loss at Wigan any day over our best players playing for the sake of it and getting injured, Rowley said some of our lads should not have had to play due to carrying knocks so why do it?? Change the team around FFS - if we lose so be it. Or lets get some loan singings in. I was talking to Morgan Smithies for a short time after the game and he said that was a really tough contest, Salford had more energy for 60 mins then they sensed their momentum building. He was very complimentary. As for Stone, being honest I don't think he has shown us anything yet in terms of the glowing reviews the Leythers talked about - certainly not an automatic first choice. Also Bourouh, he defence is normally sound, he was asleep at points yesterday. Still all I ask for is effort when watching Salford and that was there yesterday for all to see, I just hope the injuries aren't too bad - and if anyone is a risk for Hudds use the squad, its only Round 7.

Yes Maurice I think with the short turnaround sometimes you got to bite the bullet,Williams Costello longstaff lannon greenwood and hellewell could all have been called in last night but rowley keeps with the narrative we haven’t got anybody when we clearly had,no one likes losing but a defeat at Wigan a few rested bodies and a winnable April but now we have more injuries and will struggle!

I’m amazed at the negative comments on here. Really great match we could have won, as Rowley said he’ll put his best team out each week and but for running out of troops due to injuries we’d have won..
Defence superb, except for a couple of blips letting French in but we’ll learn from that…also three bad ptb, stupid, attack and positional play v measured…Wigan allowed to get away with offside for last 15……if we ain’t got the troops in the end we lose the fight. Heard Croft Steyn weren’t 100% …we have little to rotate with…quota slot and Sarge spot both not filled….so in the 3nd it’s all down to one thing…money…so Rowley pulls rabbits out of hats 3very week and we enjoy it….were in debt, the Councils lending us money to presumably survive and were in n the top 6..Look at Wakey and Cas

Thought we played really well but for a few errors. You take French and Field out of that team and we win every day of the week. Wigan isn't our greatest hunting ground but we should be proud of the efforts put in by the lads. We've played a few of the top teams away and come super close, and while it's frustrating to be so close, it will stand us well as time goes on. Think we just ran out of energy and French was the difference.
