Most of you - in typical Salford fans tradition - are taking pages from Russ`s `Doom and Gloom at Salford` book. Hyper critical.
I am not.
v Leigh we were without Burgess, Sarge, Watkins, Pauli, Ormandroyd, Ackers, Lannon, Escare, and the other half of a half fit Lussick. Yet we beat Leigh 34-8.
We are still one of the lowest spending clubs in the League so compare where we are with Mr Watson and his Spendthrift club & supportive Chairman Mr Davy.
It will take time to develop our plays with so many changes and the criticism of Orr is unfair - look at his record at Cas and the style he left behind.
Chill out everyone - it will get better especially when we can give them some support.

Let's not forget that we won that game by 26 points. You don't win by such a margin in Super League through luck so we must have done some good things in order to win. People are quick to say that we look unfit but if Leigh tired in that last 20, we didn't. Surely that shows our superior fitness? The way some fans go on, you'd think that we had just lost by a similar margin, not won.

We all know that the team is new, coaches new, systems new and that time and patience is a virtue.
The problem I have with our performances is the ease that the players heads go down. That players we know are way better than they are showing. I'm not going to be over critical at this stage but the constant merry go round of player changes doesn't strike me as a settling or positive element for bonding a new set of players. It's one thing for a coach to be forced into making changes but RM is saying that he's wanting to try players out in various positions. How can a team get a feel for a game plan when you're constantly playing different people in different positions every week. Surely the time for sorting your best team has long passed?
The defensive urgency that was displayed in the friendlies and early on seems to have disappeared for some reason and I'm still at a loss as to why he doesn't have whoever is playing 13 that week help cover the glaring defensive weakness on our right side.
We look sluggish and low on morale. We look like a group of players trying hard to be a cohesive team but ultimately looking like they're play acting at being a team at the moment.
I realise that these are all fixable and it's not all doom and gloom. It is actually possible to be supportive and critical at the same time. It's not a simple high or low or black or white.

We badly need a hooker and a FB.. if he's binning escrae (which is harsh) Imagine a joey Lussick and evalds in that side we would be a different outfit. Was a painful watch last night and we scraped past a poor Leigh outfit but my question is just how long do we give it before Marshall and orr's tactics and coaching gets questioned? I see little to be enthused about we look half hearted in defence and couldn't break folly under 12s line atm. Vast improvement needed.

The coaching team have a free ticket at the moment but the end of that approaches. I'd say five games or six is the cut off point.

I certainly don’t think we’re unfit. I do think that it’s too early to condemn the coaches but their free pass expires in the not too distant. Obviously any team needs to be more than the sum of its parts. He’s made up his mind about Escaré and that’s fair enough. Is it the same with Pauli ? I suspect it’s also how he feels about Inu but the bugger keeps kicking goals and, last night, grabbed an assist for the decisive try, albeit Sio had to run a hundred yards ! Was Greenwood injured or did he not fancy him either? Disruption is endemic in Superleague, next seasons transfer window opens very soon. Daft

Disruption is endemic. But the clubs that avoid it the best are also the ones with all the silverware.

It is actually possible to be supportive and critical at the same time. It's not a simple high or low or black or white. Whilst I agree in principle with the above there has definitely been some massive overreaction on here and some people being overly critical (without much balance on the support side!). Talk of relegation after 3 defeats against top half teams (yes the performances weren't great) and whingeing after we've almost put 40 points on a fellow SL team (after most Salford fans predicted us to lose). Talk of fans giving up ST's just shows how fickle some can be. I haven't seen yesterday's match yet and by all accounts we weren't great but it's a win and something to build on. We all know there is a weakness in the spine at 1/7/9 but the rest of the team should be absolutely fine. If we can find a way of working with Brown/Patton/Atkin and Ackers can stay fit/not get himself suspended then we'll do just fine. Whilst I'm not for one second saying we're a GF team in waiting we've seen how many teams meander through the regular season and then hit their straps in the playoffs. I still think we'll be in and around the 8 come end of season if we can get everyone fit and Marshall can find his best team and plug the obvious gaps. I've had 32 years of watching some shite Salford teams and the last few years have been a pleasant surprise. Let's try and keep some positivity for when we get back into the AJ otherwise it'll be like a bleedin' morgue come first game back!😂

Oh and there's a good young hooker over in Aus who hasn't managed to make it into the match day squad for his new club yet. Far too good to be playing in the feeder comp....who's up for a whip-round to pay his air fare?😁

That was what I was hinting at. I think a lot of fans are ruled by emotion, myself included. For some reason a lot of them will stick by that knee jerk reaction than hold their hand up and change their opinion. I guess people are happier to live their decision than change it even if they are wrong or a bit hysterical.
It's a bit personally dishonest, but I guess a lot are happy to roll with it.
I think we are getting better. Long way to go but I think we'll be in a better position further down the line.

Dearie Me the whingeing continues. Only reds89 & Mr Slim seem to share my view & bonita - who generally I concur with - even seems to be with the anti`s.
Look we are stuck with the Coaching set up unless you whingers can scrape up maybe £200k to sort out an early release for Marshall & Orr.
For Gods sake get off their backs & give them your support. Last night at least we got the gorilla off our backs.
Bonita - Paula was injured having rolled his ankle & I think Greenwood scored the first try did he not? He played well I thought - as did many & you know my view on Inu - he has to be in the team in any position from #1 to #13 - his vocal support during the game is worth that in spades.

Well that was probably the most error ridden Superleague game that I have watched, but at the end of the day we won, easily in the end, after some scares along the way. As some posters have pointed out the overreaction of some fans is alarming to say the least, and any talk of cancelling season tickets is silly and it would affect the club overall. The number of our genuine first team squad that were missing must be taken into account and the coaching staff need support to get the team playing as we all know they can play. The coaches are making decisions that I don’t understand but at times other coaches including Ian Watson make some odd choices in certain matches against certain teams, but they must be given time before any rash decisions are taken. I would love to know what was said at half time and who said it, because it worked.

No need to pigeon-hole people. I don't think many on here are overly hysterical either way apart from the obvious Given time we will slip into a better routine and connections formed. My only worry is that it will take too long for those things to happen.

Greenwood is a top player and we need to make sure that he’s retained,in the team and for the next few seasons. Inu must certainly be in the team I assume he’d dropped Pauli,as he has done previously. I agree that I’m one of the moaners at the moment. Just my viewpoint at present as I’m struggling to see a pattern of play
