Escare and Atkin might be a bit small against Catalan
l remember when Josh Wood tried to tackle Taylor in a Catalan match; wrecked shoulder sadly. David n Goliath

David n Goliath Has anyone ever not played a FB against a team for being "too small"?🤔 (genuine question) Escare is the best FB we have, so if we can't play him against Catalans then he can't play against Saints, Wigan, Wire, Hull etc either. Sorry I'm not buying that for one second. Matching them in the pack is always the #1 priority (as it is with pretty much any team TBH). Lose the forward battle and it doesn't matter if you have Slater, Inglis etc in your backline... you ain't gonna lay the platform to unleash them! |

Totally agree about the pack SS, the game starts with winning that battle. I think the issue was playing Atkin and Escare together. Both 'appear' not to be good tacklers, unlike some of their Oz counterparts and say Fages, and that maybe an issue. Additionally these days with the continual high kicking to the corners the smaller full back is at a disadvantage.So it was playing both of them which prompted my question.
Agree Escare, or maybe Costello, the best tried and tested fullbacks. Sarge never. If you look at the team I guessed at, Escare fb.
Left field view for full back, maybe in the longer term, Tui, all the attributes and would suit his free running style as it has with Connor at Hull. So Escare Costello Sio Sarge Tui...enough to go at 😉

If players were picked because of size we would never have been treated to Rob Burrow.

Not that many small good tackling full backs now in the modern game. Love to see Escare catch high balls tackle well and make breaks out of fb, but we'll see
Looks like a Taylor out for Catalan. That injury list is high now

Dixon and a few others on here may remember we had a smallish full back in the 1950s in Arthur Gregory (Andy`s Dad) He did have a problem with Tom Van Vollenhoven though,likening it to standing outside Woolworths front door on a Saturday. Saints 59-0 if I recall |
