The website's okay but there's a few things I'd like to see on it ....
First of all a Hall of Fame like the one Leeds have....
What else would anyone like to see to improve it?

Just for it to be kept right up to date at all times. In all areas.

I'd like the squad to be ammended right from the close of the last season showing who's there for the next and signings after they've been announced.
I think Kris Welham is still up.
But the fan needs apart how could it become more interesting even for a casual viewer?

Without being bad to the club or whoever runs the website, in all honesty, how many Salford fans actually visit it for up to date information, latest news or anything else? I'd hazard a guess as 'not many'. Visits to the site will probably be mainly for ticketing and the link to the online store. Maybe a few for RDTV. Even the club doesn't use it as the first port of call to provide information. It uses social media to provide that, and that's understandable. Faster comms, bigger audience, further reach. The website just needs to be an up to date mirror for what it does on social media imo. In this day and age we're seeing the shift away from websites for any news and relying on social media because of its real time nature. I don't think the club is doing anything wrong with the website except keeping certain areas up to date. In all honesty, if you look at any sports teams websites they're much the same. They provide an archive for what has been put out on social media, merchandise, and their own 'TV' content. The club doesn't really need to add any glitz to what they've got imo. I know many may disagree, probably those who don't use social media, but I think those that dislike social media are focusing too much on the social aspect and not enough on the media aspect. Whether we like it or not, communication has changed and the important job of sports teams making themselves stand-out and be heard is paramount. The times are a changin'. We need to go along with that flow.

I've just had a quick look at the Leeds, St Helens and Warrington websites and they don't seem that much better than our site, but I agree that regular almost daily updates to our site are what's needed, as for instance, it irks me to see pictures on our site of Evalds etc. who have left us for pasture's 'crap'.
I'll have a look at 3 x NRL sites and 3 x American Football sites and see if there is anything to learn from them.

Having just looked at Manley Warringah Sea Eagles site, the NRL own one huge site and all of the clubs are on and linkable on the same site. The single site NRL way is impressive and better than our adhoc, 'leave it to the individual clubs' method imho and a consistent 'Family of Clubs' image is presented making the NRL look way stronger than Superleague. Here's a link: www.seaeagles.com.au/community/What does the forum think? Vince PS Will our mascot 'Dr Devil' lose his job now that the newer slimmer 'Red Devil' logo has been taken up by the Club, or is a change of head mask all that is required?

First of all, do people not go to websites because social media is quicker or it it that websites are, on the whole, really boring and lacking?

First of all, do people not go to websites because social media is quicker or it it that websites are, on the whole, really boring and lacking? I'd hazard a guess that this site gets more traffic than the club website. Most fans want up to date news on signings in the off season. During the season they probably want match reports or highlights. Remember that this site is social media. In both cases the quickest route to any of these things isn't through the official site. Just look at this site as an example. Often news is on here within five minutes of it being released. Twitter is even quicker. This is not a competition but shows that the club would be wise to pursue both avenues. Which it does to be fair.

Yes the club does both and with good reason as you say but traffic needs direction and motivation. My homepage include SRD twitter, this forum and SRD website plus newsnow Salford Red devils and sadly the website is by far the slowest and least interesting.

I've looked some more websites:
New York Jets, very impressive - average home game attendance 77,000 Exeter Chiefs RUFC impressive - 14,700 Halifax FLFC - fit for purpose - 1,760
IMO, the only ways in which Salford could have a better website would be:
1- Superleague take over the website platform for all teams, as per the NRL model 2- We find a media company to sponsor and run the website for free, in exchange for name on shirt etc 3- A team of fans, professional in this area, run the site free of charge as volunteers 4- Crowdfunding of a new website to be owned and run by the Club
HNY!

I would use the site more regularly if it was updated more often. Don’t use twitter or Facebook so this is as close as I get to social media and I generally see something on here which comes on the website 2-3 days later. I do enjoy some of the things they have, like the quality street gang series (currently with Keith Fielding) but that is probably less popular with the younger supporters.

Agree Chief it really is poor Could be a mine of information and I think would attract lots of views but the Club seems to rely on Twitter Facebook Instagram, which all to me are temporary and pointless Could be like the old programmes were with stats, weekly review by coach ( oh that now is on Reds TV, to be paid for) Paul Whiteside with his review via ST gives better coverage than the Club

I do enjoy some of the things they have, like the quality street gang series (currently with Keith Fielding) but that is probably less popular with the younger supporters. I'd definitely use the website on a regular basis if it was up to date. The basics such as player profiles, ticket details, match day advertising surely can't take more than a few minutes for each update? How long does it take to delete Evalds for example and stick him in a player archive (I think that would be great so we could see the plaers that have come and gone down the years)? Personally my use of Social Media is limited. I'm 43 (so no offence to anyone) and I'm not of the generation that maybe wasn't brought up on technology. However, I find the misuse of Facebook, Twitter etc for trolling, abuse, fake news etc just depressing and I literally only use Twitter to check on things like match day squad announcements etc. Having a website that is fully functioning with a reasonable amount of up-to-date content should be compulsory. Does the club still have links to Salford Uni? Why not use some of the media students to run the website with supervision from the club. This would benefit the club as it's free and it would be great work experience for the students to build their CV's. You could then throw in things like player features maybe every fortnight and "Classic Matches" and "Salford Legends" sections. All good exposure for the club and great experience for the students involved. Salford City FC have great links with Salford Uni and most of their media staff are students/ex-students AFAIK. The club could then fire links out via FB/Twitter for those who are on Social Media. Job done. I'd also guess there are enough fans out there who would happily submit articles or help out where they could. I'd love to see a Junior Reds section as well for kids. We want them engaged with the club yet Social Media sites aren't the best (or safest) way to do this. A games or learning section would be great with maybe some videos from players interacting with them?
