I wouldn’t dump it,just improve it. They manage to post the Keith Fielding recollections, which I enjoyed, and yet they can’t update the playing roster. I’d have thought that anyone knowing what they’re doing could fix this in half an hour. The old adage was that you don’t need to have a website but,if you do,it has to be worth having. Ours is,just about ,but I don’t think this a cost issue. I think it’s just lack of priority

It should be the Hub from which all links emanate but it should be up to date and have additional factual information, stats, link for juniors etc. Probably the main marketing platform. But of course you have to put time in, not like Twitter Facebook or whatever, which contain generally off the cuff I'll thought out comments which are instantaneous and generally of v little value unless you want to continuously bombard people The way it is at the moment it seems pointless and might as well be dumped and the money saved At least tho according to it we still have Evalds, Dudson, Lusdick and a few others in the team I think that's a little overly negative. For one, website's and running them cost next to nothing, so the club would hardly be scrapping it especially seeing as it links to merchandise and ticketing. '...not like Twitter Facebook or whatever, which contain generally off the cuff I'll thought out comments which are instantaneous and generally of v little value unless you want to continuously bombard people' That may be true of members of the public that engage the club's accounts, but certainly not the case by the club. The stuff the club puts out is always positive and about the things we're all interested in. I'm maybe not understanding the point you're making here though so forgive me if that doesn't make much sense. I can't fault you for the player profiles though. Something that irks me that.

I always forgive Carnster As I see it, it's the difference between having a solid base for factual useful information which supporters can view with confidence as opposed relying on a continuous diatribe of short life messages and their random sometimes ranting replies most of which, to me, seem pointless If it's well formed and up to date the website can link to whatever it wants. It's just that the base seems to me, poor, lacking information and not up to date.

I think what's frustrating is that the club are so close to getting it right and all it needs is a little push and it would be perfect. In the big scheme of things many would say it doesn't really matter or low down the priority list but I think getting the basics right in all matters was what the club wanted. It's getting there I suppose.

You sort of hope the days when coaches can be quoted saying things like " Eff'n Speckies what do they know?" are long dead and buried.

i would surprised if the Club reads it and I would be even more surprised if they took any notice, sadly.

Some right miserable cnuts in this thread - have a word with yourself. We're the best run we've ever been in my time (90s onwards) and still people just want to whinge.
The club website is largely fine. It will get less visitors than you think it does, and the reality is most people will be engaging with the club via Twitter + Facebook + Instagram - where the club do a great job.

Ta RR Giasf, such eloquence: think you're one of the reasons a lot of us don't use social media

I think that's a bit of over reaction to what was/is a genuine effort to improve things from a fans point of view.
After all when do Niall Evalds and Kris Welham stop being part of the playing staff and need their photo removed.
And I don't think anyone's miserable for suggesting effort on other sports' websites would provide some idea.
I'm also sure that more or less everyone commenting on here on most things are very positive, which makes it the forum eqivalent of weird.

Russ don't bother yourself with it. It just an instantaneous Twitter type quote of zero value or significance

I thought these quotes, about sport websites, might add a bit to all this:
(You can all decide if the praise they give to feature means SRD are good, bad or a gonadsup effort.)
"Arguably the most impressive football club website about at the moment in terms of craft, usability and content. The design is device responsive and feels fresh. The content is arranged fantastically and the website looks great on any screen size. "
"The website itself is beautiful, bold and clear and very strongly branded. It’s obvious right from the first page that the club owners have invested heavily on there website in terms of look and feel and functionality."
"The redesign of the official F1 website looks great, is responsive and has a wealth of great information displayed in visually interesting and interactive ways. There are also plenty of animated elements to create an overall engaging and fun experience. The individual news items look great with large full bleed images at the top of each article."
"The website has the cartoon background and all the required menus properly accessible, making it a complete website in terms of visual appeal and utility. It also has a distinct “Have you seen this?” section to get everyone up to date with the latest happenings at the club."
It seems that some clubs and sports reckon their websites are crucial and more central than RL does.

They are crucial Russ but remember it's a lot of reading for those people who rely on Twitter; very taxing.
