I can never understand what Mcdermott is talking about but it's good to see the expert from Cas explain why Salford will get hammered and then discussing why Salford battered them. And then Watto saying he wasn't satisfied with the performance. Brilliant

The coverage of the game is my all time favourite of what's wrong with the other team, how they underperformed, etc etc etc I should be used to it ......... I’m no fan of the commentators on Sky but I think they told it pretty much as it was. We played superbly well on the back of Watson’s tactics and,as the game wore on,they fell apart. I thought ,for once, they were very complimentary to us I agree about Sky bonita I was more talking about newspapers ... you expect HullLive to be a bit on the downside and concentrate on where Hull went wrong but the RL Journos do tend to display that theme too. If you find one that doesn't let me know, please.

Brilliant Didn't realise Jon Wells also obtained a Law Degree and a master's degree in Criminal Justice Studies during his time at the Castleford Amazing that anybody born in Wakefield can read the instructions on bottle of milk Never mind get a Degree.

The law degree was for buying not pinching the milk and the masters was for being able to justify all his wrong SL predictions.

Matt Shaw, Gary Carter (he’s written for our program and his wife is a massive Salford fan), John Davidson (mates with the Carters), Gareth Walker and even Aaron Bower. Come to think of it I struggle to think of a national print Journalist who doesn’t seem to have a soft spot for us! The only grief we get are from local rag journos and Bradford/Widnes fan boys who run small rugby league websites.

Also Steve Mascord tweeted yesterday that he’s going to support salford for the rest of the season. He’ll soon learn 😂 I’m not sure about Martyn Saddler but I don’t like him Much so might just interpret Everything he says negatively

He put us on the front page of League Express quite a lot last year though. Rod Studd wished us luck a couple of times last year as well although he then went on to predict we’d lose both times!

Martyn Sadler has a soft spot for Salford from spending some time,I think,at the Uni. I followed him on Twitter but he comes over as a pompous,,opiniated sod. He might well be a decent bloke but I unfollowed him .
ps I suppose on here,it’s a bit rich me calling other people opinionated !

Re the stats for the Hull game tackles, breaks, yards made etc from the Superleague site
Ikahihifo and Mossop had virtually identical stats. Another unsung hero. I assume he's staying on beyond this year. Looks like we have two of our four props. Presumably we have a couple of quota places for props and in the 'new rules games' Pauli, who also looked a lot fitter, could combat the likes of Saints/ Catalan props

Before a ball was kicked it was all about how Hull were exciting, the best team on paper, and how impossible Salford's task was going to be. But on paper they are a stronger team, much more expensively put together and with more players that other teams covet. That’s what presenters do. In all sports. Doesn’t mean the strongest team on paper always wins. We weren’t great at the start of the season (even against Wigan). Hull started well but then got pasted but had more wins than us (without playing Toronto I think?) The analysis (as per) was overly simplistic - didn’t take hulls last couple of games Into account, a new and untested coach, first game back after a long lay off, with new rules, so who knows what impact that has. But their job is to dispassionately look at the game and describe what they think. It’s hard to hear as a fan when your team comes out of that analysis on the wrong end but there are views like that before every match in every sport on every channel

You've summed it up really well both the views and the situation at Hull.
I still think that, even if we beat all the top sides regularly, we'd ever move out of the "Taking nothing away from Salford ......." sentences that haunt reaction to our victories.

Just watched the highlights on the bbc highlights show. James Clare and Jamie Peacock did the summary well. First they complimented Salford, highlighting Tui and gushed about us,then a pause, and they assessed Hull. Well balanced and well presented
