Yes your right Woody. Luckily we have two Salford lads in Watto and Blease filling in the holes and keeping the ship afloat, year after year. We seem to have to sell a top player each year to survive. Last year they did a phenomenal job even tho Rob Lui went. This year..Evalds??
But I'm sure they'll get it right again this year. Just wonder how long we can last like this. Just hope Watto doesn't get picked off.

The only player we've ever kept hold of for any significant time were Alker and now Evalds. Despite all this last year and even losing Lui half way through the season we got to the GF on average crowds of 4300. Have we made the most out of it as a club? Probably not. Although it's good to have Morson on board who have a bit of wealth behind them. This season looks like it's gonna be back to the Salford of old in and around the bottom 4. But it's something we're all used to. Stick with it and who knows how it will go. They might even surprise us with a Wembley appearance. š

No it's not always been like that BBS; we've had Brian Snape, Marwan, now we've got š¤š from an anonymous Board.
Does the Club always have to lack ambition or is there a secret plan?

Brian Snape was before my time. Although the fact you have to go back to the 60s emphasises my point.
Marwan? Surely you can't be serious.
We apparently lacked ambition when Lui was sold. Twitter went into a meltdown. The same people now have pictures of Salford at the GF all over their timeline.

Does having āambitionā mean retaining the likes of Hastings? āAmbitionā would have cost Ā£250k a year then so either someone pays for it or we suddenly get a load of new supporters.

Let's not forget that Hastings, Jones etc all decided to leave in May when the season looked like it was heading for an unspectacular mid table finish. PK has been pretty clear that a 5k average crowd will see us at the full cap. I don't think we even hit 5k in the play off game vs Cas though so this seems unlikely. It's a shame this season looks like it's gonna be a low after the highs of last year as the chances of any investment will now surely be reduced.

Until rugby league in general starts to pick up in popularity I just donāt think the interest is there in Greater Manchester.

The real shame for us last year was players transfer negotiations being allowed to be held in May. We were out of the CC and had won around half our league games. The club were in no position to retain our key players and they understandably were talking to other clubs.
If it had been towards the end of the season would someone like Morson have come in and made Hastings a marquee player for this season? Would the club have made a better offer to someone like Jones on the basis that it would be paid for with extra ST sales? We'll never know I suppose.
If we'd kept the squad together I honestly think for the first time we would've seen a real spike it attendances. Even this year they have all been up vs last season.

Presumably the Plan of the Club is to hope for an avareage attendance of 5k. If not we sell to survive, so a survival strategy.
Marwan, yes. He invested v heavily but managed it v badly, sadly, but he had ambition. I'll never knock him for that. He put in money he tried, in his way, stopped the Club from going under.
Think the Brian Keith Snape era ended in 1982 when John Wilky too over..but not certain.

I've come to accept that this is the best we can hope for from any ownership model. An apparent millionaire made a mess of it so maybe the current ownership are not doing too bad. Obviously we all have different expectations though so we'll just have to see how it all plays out.

Williams needs dropping for me, his defence is awful. Also I agree re Welham, I donāt see what he is bringing to the team. We will be ok if we can sort the defence out!

A couple of comments saying the board is anonymous. Itās Paul King and Paul Trainor. Neither wealthy. Both giving up loads of their own time and putting their own houses on the line to keep the club afloat so we can all moan about their lack of ambition.
You think you can do better then put yourself forward. Itās a community club so new help is always welcomed

Think if you look at the structure you'll find there's a Holding Company with a Board as well RUTB I'll wait for the next elections š

Yes the current owners, the community?? Que sera sera. Not sure what's changed but I remember you being pro the 'community' ownership and supporters trust etc on here until quite recently. As stated everyone knows who the board are, so calling them anonymous because we've lost a couple of games seems a bit unnecessary to me.
