Just an evenly matched game really. Sio should've finished both them first half chances and it might have been different.
Second half we started running harder and got on top but then let a soft try in, even if it was forward.
Brown then cost us the game as a kickable penalty that was awarded to us was then reversed.
Not sure about the winning penalty for Hudds. Thought they had changed that rule so it went to the defensive side. Would have to see it again though.
No great fan of Pauli but he played a 65/70 min stint so not gonna slate him too much.
Actually thought we were better than the Toronto game even though we lost.

Few observations.
Brown is a tool, fecki g terrible tool for what he did.
We need to swap things around and get Inu in for Welham.
PP is OK for me but why are we passing him the ball when he's stood still on the last do or die set? Terrible game management. It's easy (as an ex player of some considerable girth) give me the ball on a full pelt charge and I'm a handful, give it me ambling in and I get bossed.
Sio, I'm sorry he needs sacking, his Billy Ray Sio mullet is not acceptable on any level.
Sarg looks like he's on speed running the ball out but he's wasted doing so, he gets the ball 1st/2nd play and he's not as potent at the business end of the set.
Pack look aimless, I honestly would have thought Brown was more of an organiser than that.
Evalds, class, so glad we've tied him down to another contract.
Seizer I rate highly, I think he'll do a he who shall not be named anymore did last year eventually, he just didn't do it tonight.
Turgid game totally bereft of entertainment, hardly a spectacle to entice floaters next week.

I know We don’t have to hit our straps until the back end of the season but that was frustrating tonight. We didn’t play well. Our forwards were dominated and we lacked cohesion but we were within inches of winning it despite that. Sio scores one of those early chances, the drop goal goes over, evalds keeps hold of that grubber near the end. Any of those and we win. But equally it felt like a better team would have done a number on us. What to make of it

Just seen a stat watching the game back. I’m the first half we had 57% possession. We had 36 more carries than them.
But we went in at half time losing. And even more amazingly only ran 20 metres more than them. How is that even possible??

Atkin and Inu definitely back for next week for me. Pauli is becoming a liability like he was a Wakefield. Good going forward but bobbins in defense. Agreed re Pauli. His positioning in the line was way off at times especially 2nd half. Don't know whether it's down to fitness but he didn't seem to be blowing any more than the rest. Wasn't at the game though so maybe I missed something..

Rumor is that Inu is, as last year, lacking in intensity and not training hard and doesn't deserve his place.

Some comments :-
One man Rugby will cost us thousands on the gate. Shocking to watch.
Sio - must learn to side step off his right foot as an incomplete winger thus far - try @ Saints plus 3 tonight went begging.
No depth to our attack - far too many just standing around awaiting the next bargefest. Need to be deeper with players running onto the ball.
Brown will probably miss next week after his daft butt which cost us the game when Childs reversed his decision.
Man of the Match = Luke Robinson who was on the field longer than Connor Jones.

Come on guys it was a better defensive performance than the last two weeks. And with Ikafino. Dudson, Walker (probably gone) all missing from the first choice pack and then Greenwood off after 20 mins and Lannon having his first fullish game back after his op, I thought the pack did well against a much bigger unit.
Offside at the ptb and forward passes not given kill it for me. Not totally blaming the ref but the linesmen must get involved. Somebody has to watch it as it's ruining the game.
And why when you get a blatant foul on Brown when Sargunson scores his try didn't the video ref bring it to the attention of Childs. A sin binning at least.
When I saw the team I thought we were in for a pasting and remember their scrum half is on over £400k per year. He's world class. O all in all the wrong result but a determined performance for me.

Watched it on tv. Pauli Pauli criticism is harsh. He played big minutes and contributed well. Not sure his positional play was great but he didn’t cost us the game. I thought Child was conned for the final penalty. Huddersfield will do ok this year, best for a few years. It was hard fought,we had an early casualty and hung in there. If,as has been suggested,Inu is not training well, there’s no discussion to be had. We need a kicker so ,if Inu isn’t up to it then Chamberlain must be in the squad. Can’t drop Welham so,sadly, I’d replace Rhys Williams, but only because we need to create space for a goal kicker,so he’d be unlucky. Joey going through a difficult phase but class will always come through. Don’t panic !

I’d have Lannon in the back row looked strong carrying the ball but abit sluggish in D. Evalds class as always. Hudds will go well this year?

We have lacked one major thing so far this year - structure. In attack and defence. Hope it comes soon because it’s not a small thing in rugby, nor a big thing, it is critical.

It’s three games in so without being accused of doom and gloom can we be honest that we are seriously lacking creativity and, especially further out, some structure? We are having to try and squeeze the majority of efforts in at the corner because we can’t seem to break down defences. How many breaks or even offloads have we had? Very few.
I’d prefer to see Inu in if fit as at least he has an offload in his game. I’d seriously considering including Flash as well especially if Brown gets a ban and Atkin comes in.
I’m sure the attack would look much better if the pack provides a platform for them to do their thing but there seem to be a lot of grafters with no yards/tackle busts/offloads in them. They need to step up.

i think losing Walker has set us back. But if you look at yesterday losing Dudson, Ikafeno ( then Greenwood also) as well I think we did really well to hold a massive Huddersfield pack.
I'd prefer Flanagan to Pauli but if you are to playing Pauli I'd consider him as a prop to replace Walker. On for 20-30 minutes but utilising him as a battering ram.i don't think Greenwood quite up to it and I still don't understand why Yates not on for 80.
So pack Dudson Jones Mossop McCarthy Lannon Yates
Interchanges: Ikafeno, Lussick, Flanagan, Pauli
If you want Burke in then he's the first 20 min tackling hooker, he's played there before. Perhaps better than Jones because he could be used later in the match.
Yes certainly Flanagan in for his creativity down the middle.
But it's early days and the team is still forming.
