Williams probably should have got to the kick. But Brown had shot out of the line to try and close the play down. That naturally made Sarge abd ‘Dragon’ jam in to cover the gap and meant Williams momentum was going the other way and he couldn’t recover. Smart play by the kicker.
If Williams had dropped back for the kick they would have had a 3 on 1 v Sarginson and theres no way Willams stops them on the line. Brown charged out a few times and mostly Sarge and Williams covered. The communication is a bit out still. That will improve with time playing together. 3 players on the edge who have never played together before.

Sorry guys full back should go across behind defence to cover chips thro. Anybody in the line has to turn and it's much harder.
On numerous plays Evalds doesn't track the ball across the field, which was the first thing I I was ever told as a fb. But things might have changed this century as props become middles, loose forwards don't exist, hookers don't need to hook, and we have the notorious spine!!

JJR I agree about Evalds being out of position a lot He does it so often though that I think it must be a coaching decision to have an extra defender in the line. I think that explains the improvement in our goal line defence but leaves us vulnerable to grubbers I’m surprised Teams don’t do it to us more

I don’t think we should worry too much about Evalds. He was ok last season when we were winning. Watto has a process and Evalds goes where he’s told.

I don't think we can pin the Toronto try from the kick on Evalds. Toronto had made a line break on the opposite side the tackle before which meant he had been drawn across to that. The ball then got moved across the other way on the next tackle.
We do seem to have a weakness from grubber kicks though. Even last season we conceded a few in this fashion.

Looks like Childs again. Must like the support he gets from the fans or the pizzas I thought he had quite a good game Fri...but owes us a Sio try.

Watson confirmed in his pre game presser that Seb can't play but he'll keep the same team.

You'd think it would be a straight swap for Johnson

I’d bring in Lannon for Greenwood but Watto seems to be happy with Greenwood. I’d bring Johnson in for Seb. I’d still start with Yates but I think watson will stick with Burke starting at 13. My prediction for the team selection is:
Evalds Sio Welham Sarge Williams Tui Brown Moose Jones Dudson Greenwood McCarthy Burke
Lussick Johnson Pauli Yates

I don't normally question Watson's tactics but I think he's not utilising the players he has at his finger tips this season.
Last season when we were at our best was when we had the tacking machine Tomkins on the pitch until he was replaced by Lussick, Watson experimented by having Lussick on from the start and that wore him out so Jones to starting and we need to be starting with Yates (I'd use him as a 80 minutes unless injured player) who will tackle as long as he's got breath in his body.

Well MR the key question there is whether Yates` distribution from dummy half is as good as from Jones. If so it gives us extra space on the 17 for maybe Inu, Flash, Atkin or Ormanroyd?
