My guess is that he’s been bringing on Yates at the same time as the ‘impact’ forwards to shore up the defence. As mentioned last week I’m not sure Yates looks as fit as he did at London yet anyway. I’m not too bothered starting Burke as it’s not really a game changer like the addition of Jones which made a big difference. I thought Burke did well when he came on at the end last week as well - ran with energy and was involved with one of the late tries.

I expected Yates to be doing more minutes. But he was really blowing in the second half last week despite being on for less than half the match. So maybe his fitness isn’t quite where they want it yet. He was blowing far more than Pauli or SBW that I saw. But then sometimes players need to take a breath so I don’t want to judge him on that moment. I do know that the conditioning team wanted him to put a kilo or 2 on and maybe he either hasn’t managed it or is struggling with it in some way?? Or maybe it’s just that Watto and co know better than us 😊

Just look at fighters (I’m an MMA man rather than boxing) who make a step up in weight - they are often blowing early on in their first fight at the new weight if they do it too quickly. That being said, I’m not sure he looks that much bigger than last year?

I was chatting to him in November as they started pre-season and he told me they wanted him an extra kilo and he was struggling to add it I said he could have one of my kilos, I’ve got plenty spare. He said he thought it would be the wrong kind of kilo. How rude 😂

No Dudson. Seriously light in the front row.

Bar one rush of blood Kevin brown played well imo. Our forwards were gash and our backs not good enough. The lack of creativity on the 4th and 5th play is alarming.

Tough niggly game, we struggled with the pack and combination s. Browny was a passenger once he got his knock (understandably). For me, next week is a must win now. We need momentum

Fair play To Huddersfield, there pack beat ours, not massively impressed with Seizer but they look a well drilled % Aussie team

Could not make it tonight so cannot comment. Only to say I had Huddersfield down as one to beat.

Dreadful game.
Salford slow and laboured. One clean break the whole match. Hudds quicker ptb and tactical lying-on won it for them. Brown was very quiet, Tui tried and never gave up but can't work Hastings-like miracles. Evalds solid and probably our best player. Sarge gave a hundred percent. Thought Pauli tried hard but we missed Dudson and Seb badly. A game we should have won easily once again escapes us.
Onto next week...

Defence was much improved. Pack made no yards which left the attack with very little to work with. Game was lost in the last ten mins of each half when the team looked dead on their feet.

Two poor teams. If we were playing a team with a fast ptb we would of had another mullering. Tui kicks that drop goal could of been a different game although we look well off where we should of been

Pauli Pauli is terrible, a one trick pony. Brown should have seen red for me. No need for that. Moose giving away a silly penalty at the end was stupid. I can't help but think that Inu's kicking prowess could have been the difference. This team clearly needs time to gel because it severely lacks cohesion - it needs someone to take leadership and as things stand, no one is standing out to do that.
I hope we get our act together next week against a decent Leeds team.

Atkin and Inu definitely back for next week for me. Pauli is becoming a liability like he was a Wakefield. Good going forward but bobbins in defense.
