Lolohea is a talent, but...
He struggled to find a position that he excelled at. At the NZ Warriors they played him in the halves, FB, centre, and wing. He always did okay wherever he played but never set the world alight. Like a lot of players at that time at the NZ Warriors, attitude problems created inconsistency and they moved him on. He's also put on a lot of weight since coming over which suggests two things to me, that Leeds backroom team are not doing their job and Lolohea can't be bothered. Maybe both.
He has undoubted talent, but he struggles for identity in teams wherever he's gone. Coupled with extra weight and poor attitude it isn't a wonder that Leeds are looking to get rid...

Lolohea caused havoc down our left side a few times at the AJ earlier in the season. He does look unfit but if we can get a decent running game out of him it'll be making the best out of a bad situation. Gutted to be losing Lui but if Watto can work his magic then we may just do ok out of the deal.

It's a tough one this.
Hopefully Leeds will be paying both sets of wages plus the reported 65k fee otherwise I'd stick with Lui for the rest of the season and take the financial hit next year.
As for a reported shortfall due to the challenge cup loss surely this was not being factored into our income at the start of the season and relied on to get us to the end of the season? If so someone needs a bollocking...

If so someone needs a bollocking... My thoughts exactly ! Cup half full - Lui has gone missing in quite a few games this season, sadly he’s played well in the last couple of games . Lolohea has heaps of potential and if anyone can tap into that then Watto can . I groaned when we signed Burke and Chamberlain from Widnes last year ......and have been happily proved wrong . I had the same feeling of being underwhelmed when Dudson signed....... Am I being unkind in hoping that Myler and Lui fail to click under the Great Agar and that they have a grim relegation battle for true rest of the season and still go down . Ahhh schadenfreude ! Cup half empty - now is not the time to work on new half back combinations ! Hastings is the Messiah but this would be one miracle too far . |

Just like Lui last year, Lolohea needs an organising half in order to flourish. He is a running player that plays what is in front of him. Leeds don’t have that and with Lui, still don’t. Lolohea next to Hastings is a completely different prospect to the Lolohea at Leeds. Last season Lui was trying to do everything himself without Dobbo or Jacko next to him, Lolohea at Leeds this season is similar.

Lolohea hasn't impressed too much since moving from the NRL, but Watson seems to like players who are flexible enough to play in various positions.
It seems like a sensible decision given the lack of depth we have in comparison to other teams.
Perhaps he can build a solid partnership with Jackson and get a bit of confidence back in his game. Fingers crossed.
