Rugby league has been 'dying' for pretty much all of its 100+ years of history. If there was social media through most of these years you would have been getting pretty much the same comments as now over the entire history of the sport.
We don't know what TV interest there is currently as the last deal was ludicrously voted in without going out to tender, and saw no revenue increase for the duration of the 7 year deal. To try and offset this many clubs have increased ticket prices which has again drove fans away.
Sky sports have lost things such as CL football, Spanish la Liga, premiership RU, Frank Warren boxing, Australian international cricket and the IPL since the last deal was negotiated. We should be going into the negotiations with a strong hand not caving in to whichever ridiculous ideas they put forward.
Premiership RU went to BT for more cash and saw a 50% increase in viewing figures. There's no reason that RL can't do the same, with or without expansion clubs.

Toronto V Salford Sunday NY V Salford Friday And of course the same with TWP
And with Toulouse and the Dragons
A ticket to both even before SL arrival would be a start.
A sixteen team SL where you play everyone only once would create a model that could have an international calendar and a CC and possibly even a Lancs and Yorks cup!

The Catalan crowds for us don't support that but I assume by then we'll be playing Rochdale Oldham Swinton Leigh and Widnes. Do I want to see Leigh as opposed to Catalan on Easter Monday....yes please.

I don't understand that reasoning at all.

Absolutely not but the way it's going we'll be there in the not too distant future. Big US and French money paying for goodish Oz players will kill us off eventually.
A benefit would be playing more local teams. Over Easter we usually play Catalan either at home when it seems dead or away when we have a massive disadvantage ( they're playing Thursday again this year) The atmosphere and match against Leigh over Easter was simply far better.

I don’t think you can say we normally play catalans at Easter. We had them on good Friday at home in 2016 and 2018 and Easter Monday away in 2017. I don’t think we’ve had them at Easter any other time have we? When did we last have leigh over Easter?

With Regard Ottawa the four clubs that Voted against Are according to Love Rugby League, Hunslet Rochdale Leigh & Widnes. I think only one of them has spoken and said they voted against in order to wait and see, and this may be understandable but NA clubs do have to do a fair amount of getting on with getting a team up and running. So delays were a problem for NY though they may seem sensible for Swinton.

That local derby our capital London v Catalan drew just over 2100. Diversification working then?

That local derby our capital London v Catalan drew just over 2100. Diversification working then? Was the Super League aggregate attendance record not just broken? You can pick out isolated stats to back up the argument either way but Friday’s match day figures show that someone must be doing something right.

By the way what is the average for a game at Trailfinders this season? *
Also neither Catalan nor London are from North America so including them as an example is a bit left field.
* found out 2160 so that's a) more or less the usual and b) is up from previous years.

I think we should get rid of the challenge cup and stop geographically close teams from playing each other. The crowd for Salford v Rochdale was only just over 1000

Of course then we wouldn't have Syddal v Red Star Belgrade, att 201. But it was televised so both the RSB fans stayed at home

Very puzzled to see Toronto's first home game in 2019 against Swinton get a Attendance of 9532. Wolfpack won 52-10. This cannot be correct there not a typical championship team laden with the History and tradition and honours of the well established lower league teams that has more of a right to exist, I call on the RFL to immediately exempt the canadians from all future RL Leagues and competitions They should not be allowed to apply for reentry to the RFL until they can match the vastly superior trophy count of Hunslet -Barrow - Doncaster -Rochdale -Batley Etc I'm fairly Certain that the lions next two fixtures Widnes H and Rochdale (Summer Bash) will be two or three more than today's attendance.
