Or so it would seem. Started poor tonight robbed by the touch judge for the first try but my biggest issue is the five drives and a kick ala nobby style we played tonight. I know we have both wingers out but there was little creation in attack, we seem hell bent on letting our forwards trundle 5 or 10 yards with not much creativity on the 4th and 5th play. Hats off for effort and enthusiasm in the 2nd half but we were so predictable ball in hand.

What a bleedin negative outlook, especially as we were massive outsiders and we are supposed to be getting behind these lads ? Yes, they are earning good money, and the fans are supplying some of it, but that was a really good effort .... or did I watch a different game ?

Effort was there, but they're missing a spark and desperately need to believe in themselves. Early days, but we're going to need to find something soon or morale will be up in smoke. No disgrace to get beaten at wakey by so few points. Better teams will come unstuck.
However, I can foresee a bad trend in our short term future unless we bounce back quickly.

If it was a poor show all round I would agree but the defence was there and if Lui and Littlejohn click I think we will be ok. Another decent back and we’ll definitely be ok.

Am I missing something here? "Little creation in attack"? We scored three tries to Wakey's two. How the hell does that compute? Some people need to get a grip.

Surely that would be Rochdale or similar ilk? I am fully behind the lads but that doesn't mean we cannot discuss the frailties, especially when we have lost two.

OK so you thought we were decent ball in hand? Genuine question? I thought we were one dimensional everything went through Lui and that defending for his try was laughable, against a better side we would have struggled

Still ... not a bad effort, and against a team who were favs, it was a good show ??

If you think they were trundling Redrum then I’d like to see you stand in front of them. Wakefield have got a massive pack and after the first 10-15 minutes our boys bossed them. We had to get on top of the pack before we could move the ball or we’d have gone nowhere. We didn’t have enough gas left to nick it at the end and they got the 50-50 calls The attack (do we call it ‘our A’ these days?) definitely wasn’t where it needs to be. I think people underestimate the impact of Flanagan being out has. His quality, accurate passing in the middle gives the halves that extra second to do something. McCarthy and Hauraki aren’t up to it unfirtunately. Also I think Watson would have like to ease Littlejohn in more slowly but Vatuveis injury and Johnson struggling last week meant evalds had to go back to wing and GOB to FB so Littlejohn had to play. He looked rusty and took him an hour to settle in which th the passing moves We will get better with ball in hand

Jeez. If O'Brien kicks one we draw and two we win out of three kicks he missed and the hatchets are out? We were more expansive with the ball in the first half running it on the 5th tackle etc and where did that get us? Losing by 8. We simplified the game plan in the second half having negated their forwards for the most part, score 3 trys and have a kick at the end to draw and we are one dimensional... Give your heads a wobble ffs.

There really is no pleasing some people on here. We had to make it a forwards battle and restrict them out wide because of the threats they posed on the edges. I thought we did that very well, the wingers barely got a sniff. We also scored more tries than them! Yes we are still in need of another back but tonight was much more promising and shows we haven’t become a terrible side.
Also a big feature of this side is they have a great spirtit and give everything for each other. I thought the way they went to console Gaz at the end was brilliant. Injuries permitting, we’ll be ok.

On Behalf of all Salford fans I'd like to award Gaz O'Brien the Stating the Bloody Obvious Trophy for 2018 , he said while being interviewed on Sky Sports "I missed all three So that as cost us the Game to be honest" 😶🤐

Speaking as a critic and retracting a bit at the same time. I was a negative and had them as outsiders by a long way. That was an improved performance and deserves a lot of pats on the back. The start of the game made me think my worst suspicions were far short of the mark, but the recovery and second half was, in the end, an unlucky loss. It's not usual to score more tries and lose in RL but at least that's one of the good things to take from the game. Littlejohn is a bit of mystery, he seemed to take a back seat instead of command. But we are a bit predictable, far too Nobby and didn't play to the strengths we have often enough.

She’s an insufferable idiot, only ever interested in wire. Felt for Gaz last night, he looked on the verge of tears a few times. I felt he did ok in the most part, looked threatening joining the line which we’ve missed. 3 very difficult kicks but would expect him to get 1. Hey ho, these things happen, not sure what other options we have? In response to OP, yeh it wasn’t expansive tonight but we need to play to our strengths, which is definitely the pack. We need a better idea when we get near their line as tonight at times we looked like headless chickens, watto will be working on that I’m sure. All we can ask is improvement week on week, that said we absolutely have to win our next game!!

It was obvious that we went with a game plan to tire out their forwards and looking at the stats on the SL website, we targeted Fifita, Wood, Arona, Horo, Ashurst and England who all made over 30 tackles each. When you consider the flow of the game too, the more the game went on, the more we got on top which shows that the game plan was working. We just needed to be a little more patient in the 1s half with the ball. All in all I think there were lots of encouraging signs from that. A massive improvement from last week.
