Really sad news.
He will always be a bonafide Salford legend - 350+ caps and 10 years as captain.
One of the hardest working, grittiest and courageous players I've ever seen grace the Salford shirt.
Thoughts are with his friends and family x

I enjoyed watching the lads today. Hard to assess the new players when it was a very informal 20 mins per half friendly. Singleton can't help himself can he... he was trying to take off everyone's heads!

If we do use our Quota spot for me a Prop is the biggest need and then a back, we were light on backs last year. I think investing in a Prop is priority 1. Agree with this, we have some good workhorses just Missing a big aggressive hard running prop Melbourne Storm's Aaron Pene seems keen on a move to Superleague. I think there's only 4 teams with a quota spot. Think he'd make a good addition. Edit: apologies, someone else has already mentioned this!

We're talking about the reaction on Facebook & Twitter Dixon with regards unacceptable criticism/abuse of the board. None of us know the inner workings of the club's finances but we all know we've continually scraped by on a shoestring budget. Unforeseen reductions in funding and not receiving promised income from matchday revenue streams obviously hits us harder than anyone else and we aren't in a position to be bailed out by a sugar daddy. As such, player sales are inevitable. Whether it's a good look or not is sadly immaterial. I'd rather lose players and have a club than go under. Agreed. I think our priority this season needs to be to make sure we're scoring enough points on IMG's criteria to be a Superleague team. It might mean that sacrifices to the team are made to demonstrate that we are on a fairly good financial footing, but if it means we get to keep our SL status it's a small price to pay in the short term.

BTW I cannot believe the actual **** some of our so called fans direct to the SRD board it is nothing short of disgraceful. Not on this forum on Social Media. If I was Paul King I'd possibly walk, and when his personal guarantee's goes the club does. Amazing how stupid some people can be. Appreciate this guy has taken us to two finals, has wiped out much of the Koukash and Covid Debt and runs the most cost efficient club in Super League. Selling two players is small compared to the bigger picture and IMG. Wholeheartedly agree with this. Some of the comments I've seen on Social Media are pretty ridiculous. I completely understand fans being upset - we're all passionate about our team and frustrated at the situation we find ourselves in, but I'd rather be part of the rollercoaster ride that is Salford Rugby than be without a Club to support because of reckless financial mismanagement.

I believe we received a club record fee for Croft so I'd like to think that some of that money will go towards recruitment.

Sad to see two quality players leaving the squad but we've been in this position plenty of times in recent years and somehow managed to cobble together a competitive squad. The backroom staff have a knack of getting the best out of the players we recruit so we have to trust that they're doing the right thing.
I'm keen to know who are targets are.

I thought it was an enjoyable game yesterday but it will be remembered for all the wrong reasons.
I know that it's easy to bag the ref when we lose (I am definitely guilty of doing this), but yesterday's refereeing display was possibly the worst I have seen in several decades of supporting the Club. Missing a couple of incidents is OK, refs are only human. Missing lots of incidents is unforgivable.
It's the first time where I have considered the possibility that the ref has deliberately cheated, it was *that* bad.
On a positive note I thought King Vuniyawa was very good again, he's probably the most improved player this season. Also, fair play to Danny Addy - I am not his biggest fan by any stretch of the imagination but he played a full game yesterday and it looks like his fitness has drastically improved.
If we didn't have so many injuries I think we'd have comprehensively beaten Leeds yesterday even with Aaron Moore officiating.

I'm pretty sure Chris Atkin could play in the Forwards 😁

A sniff of success and this guy thinks he's the dog's b*llocks.
It's a dick move handing in a transfer request mid-season but if KR want him that badly we should raise the asking price and take the money. We've been in this situation plenty of times before and we'll find another rough diamond to polish.
I'd understand if if was Saints or Wigan, but HULL KR? The mind boggles.

Great summary.
I think we're one or two players away from taking the team to the next level. I always worry that we lack the depth of the 'bigger' clubs if one of our key players has a long-term injury but that's not something we can readily change.
The non-playing staff also deserve a lot of credit for getting us in to this position on a shoestring budget.

Some good ideas here John!
It is very important that the next generation are engaged with the Club at an early age. Correct me if i'm wrong but I don't think Salford Royal (Hope Hospital) has a maternity unit these days so there aren't many babies being born in Salford any more. I know that isn't a major issue in the grand scheme of things as there are Salford fans from all over the World but it's something to bear in mind.
With regards to local music, that sounds really good but I should add that my band played in the tent before KO last year and the majority of fans weren't that bothered... it was a reoccurring theme for other bands too throughout the season.

For me this is not a bad signing and he will definitely bolster our forward pack. However, he is prone to the occasional brainfart with regards to his discipline and giving away silly penalties.
