I'm sat here in the pub watching the six nations, England Vs Scotland.
I'm trying to watch this game without any bias at all. As someone who played Union in my youth but watches League as an adult I'd like to think that my view is as balanced as it possibly can be.
I just cannot understand what the public see that makes this game a spectacle. It's slow, lethargic, negative and littered with basic errors.
So my question is this - how has Rugby Union become so much more popular than Rugby League? Why are investors and sponsors inclined to favour one over the other? Why do our Media outlets dedicate airtime to one and not the other?
Interested to hear your comments.
Cheers.
Ps I've had a beer so apologies for brevity.

I stepped back from the cut 'n thrust of speculation and rumourism and just tried to concentrate on enjoying the games. Didn't realise I been away that long. I've only missed 350 pages ! Welcome back MM. Nice to have one of the old timers back! We're becoming a rare breed these days... Agreed! I am coming back out of hiding too

Its refreshing to see a Salford line-up which hasn't had to change drastically in the off-season due to players coming and going.
I often think that we start the season sluggish as it takes a while for new players to gel, but this year I expect things will be different and hopefully we are quick out of the traps.
I can't wait for the season to begin... it feels like a long time since the St Helens game!

Not for me. Seems like more trouble that he's worth.

Ollie Partington would be a really good signing. My guess is that the club are reluctant to dip their toes in to the transfer market now IF there's an investor coming on board with funds to target other players.

Terrific performance and a joy to watch.
I think we caught Wakefield on a bad day and we played a blinder. I felt bad for the Wakey fans who stayed until the final hooter, but we've been there plenty of times in the past ourselves.
No idea how the last try was given - shocking decision but I'll take it...!

I must admit, I was pretty worried seeing him starting at fullback against Cas. However I thought he played really well and was impressive under the high ball. There's never been any doubt about his attacking ability, he's a genuine threat with his trickery and pace - it's his defensive ability I still worry about given his size and weight. He's an obvious target for any opposition forward.

I'd love us to build on our performance against Leeds and get another win under our belts. I think it would be difficult to drop anyone who played in the last game.

Really sorry to hear this. I never personally knew Bonita Red but his contribution to DT (as well as Scarlet Turkey ) will be sorely missed. Thoughts are with his friends and family.

I thought the second half performance was much improved - can't fault the effort of the lads. Once we're back to a full strength team I think we'll be a dangerous team. Having Livett back in the lineup can't come soon enough.
As usual, I found myself screaming at the number of stupid penalties we concede - unforgivable when they're on the 4th tackle of the set.
Watkins and Croft stood out for me. Danny Addy just isn't good enough to be playing at this level, unfortunately.

Evenly matched contest for me. No idea which Salford team turns up tonight but I'm hoping it's an improvement on last weekend's performance. In all fairness it couldn't get much worse...!
I usually find that the atmosphere in better and louder when it comes to Friday night games so hopefully that gives us a slight advantage. Fingers and toes firmly crossed.

We were very poor yesterday. Huddersfield simply punished our errors and mistakes and didn't really need to step up a gear in order to get the win. You've got half a chance of winning if you do the basics right; sadly we didn't manage that.
Our forwards were completely dominated too.
It's easy to blame the ref, especially when your team loses, but we'd have still been turned over regardless. In saying that, the standard of officiating yesterday was atrocious.
Onwards and upwards. The only positive I can think of after that defeat is that we surely cannot play that poorly week in week out. We've also got players coming back from injury fairly soon which will hopefully improve things.
We've shown what we can do against an admittedly substandard Cas team and Toulouse, so hopefully this is just a small blip and we get back to winning ways, starting with Hull KR on Friday.

Same team as last week for me, no-one in last week's win had a stinker so they're in the squad on merit. However if Sarge is fit it would be good for him to get a bit of game time.
