I think with Kevin Brown. His last tackle kicks are on the money, and he is a very good organiser. And I think if he keeps fit he will really do well for us. That is not a criticism of Jacko.Because they bring different skills to the party. Just my take on it.

I think these signings are very shrewd of Blease and Watson. We're getting three guys who performed very well in a relegated side, which is a good sign. They are coming as a group and will bring that bonded togetherness into a similar environment at Salford where they should fit right in. They are very much players that Watson likes. Grafters and workhorses rather than flashy and inconsistent. Yates in particular is going to be a great signing, and I think he'll flourish under Watson. I'm actually pretty excited about the coming season already, and can't wait to see how the new faces and the existing players adapt and change. I'm even coming round to Kevin Brown coming in. I was concerned about his injury record, but thinking about how good our physio and conditioning staff are, I think he may find that spark again at Salford. I feel sorry for him in a way because he's got very big boots to fill. I just hope the fans cut him a bit of slack in that regard. Hey, if I can do it with Brown anyone can! I personally think with Brown if he is fit.His ability is not in question.

As much as I also loved Cliff Eccles I think he meant Evans who was before my time. Eccles wasn’t the most skillful prop. Cliff Evans was a revolutionary,he won 2 league titles with the great Swinton side before he came to Salford.

Jack Littlejohn’s work ethic was good but he didn’t fit in. His cv probably made it seems as though he’d be fine. Now,look at Kevin Browns cv. Experienced international, played for top clubs selected by more experienced rugby brains than mine. I’ve no idea whether the KB signing will work out but in terms of skill, intelligence, work ethic and class,we’ve signed the right guy. I’m far more worried about hooker where we need a Tomkins type work horse to free up Joey for later in the game. I hope CJ is that man. I personally think Joey Lussick should be playing every minute he can.He his a class act.

That is my point too. He spoilt the game as a fair contest and removed the chance of any of the Salford players winning the Grand Final Let it go. The better team won. Even if those decisions had gone for Salford do you honestly believe we would have beat them. They were stronger in the first twenty and last twenty. Salford were on top in the last twenty of the first and the rest was even. They are a very very good team and unlike Wigan we did not get battered and humiliated. The game they played was the same as what they have done all year and that’s why the won the league by 16 points and are GF winners I think everyone was in agreement all the time. That best team won,I think if you read all the post again you will see that.

I think this is the worst thread I’ve ever read on here. So much nonsense. There were 2 or 3 wrong decisions against Salford. It wasn’t a head but. It was clear cut obstruction. Find me more than 2 examples of a team being penalised for the scrum half not retreating behind the scrum in the last 20 years. Lolohea did it at least once In that game. Should have been a pen for saints 20m out. Easy 2 points but Kendal didn’t give it. How come if he wanted saints to win? He missed a knock on by Sio. Gave us a 7 tackle set for a saints knock on when it looks to me like it comes off Inu (that set ends with Tui’s no try). One or two others that went our way. The strip on mossop in the wigan game for our opening penalty I’ve watched lots of times and can’t see an obvious Wigan hand in there. The Bibby try against Cas. I don’t remember one of our fans saying the ref must have wanted us to win. How come? Not saying Kendall got nothing wrong. He did. All refs will make mistakes in every game. Just like players do. For some reason it’s unforgivable and a conspiracy when the referee misses something. The penalty count was something like 7-5 to saints so not a massive difference It’s funny how the game we won was the one where the ref had the best game. Maybe we won that game because we played brilliantly rather than it being the ref? Maybe we lost the other two because Saints were just too good and we made too many mistakes against both them and Wigan first time. Do you not get how biased we are as fans and how much that influences what we see? Has anybody in this tread ever tried reffing? If not give it a go and see how you get on. I had promised myself I wouldn’t get into the ref debate but I’ve read so much nonsense on social media and here that I can’t help it. I know this won’t be a popular view but hey ho. My number one hate in RL is the ref bashing conspiracy theorists. That’s what nearly puts me off rugby league. With referees like Mr kendal Underdogs will always be underdogs, and that's what keeps people away.

After the Wigan game the Friday before I was so looking forward to the final and thought we had a fighters chance. The way we defended against Wigan and the fact that we should have beaten Saints at their place (Apart from a dodgy refereeing decision) I really thought we could possibly do it. I really enjoyed seeing our boys come out to contest a Grand Final at Old York Trafford, the pinnacle of British Rugby League. Within about 10 minutes of the start I knew we didn't have a hope in hell due to the officiating. It left me with a very hollow feeling inside that we weren't even given a chance by Chris Kendall. It wasn't because the Salford players didn't give everything as they were fantastic. Imagine if Salford had been given the decisions Saints were given. In the period before half time we scored two tries one of which was ruled out without going to the video ref. Why,when it's such an important game and the Wembley no try debacle? Saints were offside at nearly every play the ball, third man in putting hands on top of tackled players to slow the game down, a head shot on Evalds and a headbutt to a player on the ground.Nothing punished. This isn't an attack on Saints who have been magnificent all season but an attack on the Rugby League and the officiating of our show piece event. Very proud of being a Salford fan this year and thank you to all the Players, Coaches and Staff for a wonderful year What I don't get is. It's the League,s fault.Yes it's their fault they have only got a few referee,s.But it was Kendals fault when they crossed the whitewash.I would go as far as to say, that if we were lucky enough to go back next season the same thing will happen again.what we got on Saturday I expect just not so blatant. You have to feel sorry for the players, if we feel bad how do they feel.

According to Fox Sports, Hastings happy and settled in England and not chasing to get back to Oz, even tho he has a get-out clause after one year of his contract. So the story rumbles on. If the call does not come he can say he didn't want go to anyway.

I Know we have talked about this on another thread. So please excuse me for starting another one. Reading the letters in today's league express from supporters from other clubs. At least five are about the performance of the so called referee. For those who did not get a copy,at least to go as far to sujest that we were never in with a chance from the start. That through his bias Mr Kendal saw to it we did not have a chance. The feeling of those who commented, was that every 50 / 50 decision went saints way. One even went as far as to sujest Saints first try should have been ruled out because under the present law Farge was offside, and that Lolohea's try should have stood. Also the head but on the Salford player should have been punished. I know some on the forum probably think, some go on to much about reffees so I will refer to Josh Jones. When asked about Chris Kendal. I don't want to comment on what I think about the feferee I will get into trouble. Even the players thought what some of us thought.
