www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/news/greater-manchester-news/salford-red-devils-council-loan-13877206Really can't figure out if this is a good or bad thing? This is reassuring as you'd hope they won't sweep stuff under the carpet. “We have today agreed to extend the Company Voluntary Agreement on the club for three years, on annual review. Our accountants will have full access to the club’s accounts and finances and we are determined to turn things around" But then you read this and think WTF. "It is concerning to hear about the continued financial difficulties faced by the club, especially in light of the important role that the club has for our city" If it does transpire we've been lied to about the financial situation then it should all come out in the wash now this is happening.

Would be good if there's anyone left who hasn't been blocked asks Koucash and Blease about this. I can hear the Docs spin Doctors warming up as we speak.

As a club we were royally shafted by the RFL all those years ago when licensing came in. They said that having a modern stadium was an essential for SL inclusion and many teams with old grounds and no future plans started to panic. What bugs me about all this is that we were the only one that actually made it happen, to our detriment may I add, and have paid the price ever since. Once it became clear that the likes of Wakefield and Castleford were unable to reach this heady essential they scrapped licensing leaving us with no ground of our own and a massive debt. It was all too much for Wilky who had done what he thought was the best for the club at the time, and then MK stepped-in. Too many precious Yorkshire sides at risk of falling out of SL meant that we sit where we are. I can't help thinking that if we'd have blagged it for a couple of years like Wakey and Cas we'd still be at the Willows or in a different ground with preferable financial outlook.
The future of the club very much is in the hands of the council. They want return on their loans and the only way that's going to happen is if the club stays afloat and slowly pays it off, as sure as sh1t we wont become a financial or RL success any time soon. let's hope that there's a bit of money floating around these trustees or we'll be sinking even lower imo.

It’s some distance away from owning our own stadium and signing Billy Slater

Well f'ing said Carnster, absolutely spot on. It still grates me to this day how we were shafted with having to leave The Willows whilst years late Cas and Wakey still haven't even been close to moving to new grounds, especially when The Willows wasn't even that bad in comparison and could easily have been redeveloped.

Unfortunately we picked the wrong sight to move to, back in 2003 Ladywell and Middlewood (on Oldfield Road which is only now being built on with the usual bland flats) were considered. Obviously we were beaten to Ladywell but Middlewood would have been excellent being close to town and good transport links, all shoulda woulda coulda now.

Still say the site of the old Clarendon school would have (would still) worked too, heart of old Salford, a billion bus routes and not a million miles from Ladywell tram stop and the motorway.

Wilky had no option but look to move towards the end as he saw it, certainly wouldn't have moved unless it was needed, but it seems the lure of Peel holdings (Who seem to be a nefarious company in general) poured honey in his ear.

Where's the old Clarendon School? Churchill Way near Salford Precinct. Maybe not the biggest site but sure you'd have got a stadium in there with some moving of other facilities and maybe the odd house clearance. Think it was actually called Clarendon Park High school and got closed years ago, I went to Hope High (left 1986) and remember some of the former pupils coming to us.

I know it as Windsor High School, it was closed down and demolished in early 2000's and they were all seperated between Hope and Buille Hill Yeah that is still derelict again good transport links, imagine playing right next door to the precinct! haha

After many years of work, unchallengeable planning consent for the stadium was granted in February 2007. Franchising was introduced in 2009. Which part of what Dixon said wasn't true?
