Just thought it was worth looking at this again after the Wigan match
Think as everybody has said over the season that we lack speed, depth in the squad, a centre n the Shenton mound and at least one prop. Also still can't see Mossop making it; nursed at the beginning of the season and out long term again.
So for me * Class centre who can lead and organise the line * MCB, probably reasonably priced and great speed * Class 2nd row very mobile forward * Prop in the Mossop mould * Couple of young up and comings in the Murray mould,a back and a forward
Also I now think a few players could change positions * Wella has slowed down and can't do long stints....to prop like Griffin * Jones, sorry he just keeps running round in circles to me and too much weight....prop and teach him how to run like koppy * Bibby into the 2nd row (or centre)where he's played on loan...if Bateman can do it so can he. I just don't get the Bateman scenario, eventually one day some big Oz forward will sort the sneaky jiggly idiot
And the one person who I'd really love to see here. John Kear. I think he has the best rugby brain around. Led Sheffield to glory, did it with Saints, made Batley a good team, with no money, and now the brains behind the resurgence of Wakefield. He'd be there in the Sheens mould to take the pressure off Watto and to inject new little bit. Look what he's done to Wakefields back line with our reject wingers..made them a class SL team.. This is no slight to Watto who's brilliant ....it would be somebody to seek new players, put new ideas, support the coaching team etc

At the breakfast send off thing on Sunday Gas Carvell interviewed both Mossop and Flash, Mossop said he should be back in the 8s (hopefully he is but can't see it), Flash is out for the season.
I agree Jones is carrying far too much timber.
Not sure where we're going to get a shenton type centre though, NRL fringes or is this Orphelts gonna be a gem.

Think JJ is ready made for the 80 minutes modern #13 role in the Gallen style, if we need that with flash & T Mc I don't know.
But it couldn't be more clear we need pace, Johnson is destined for me to be a big pacy centre but we need an out and out speedster as at the moment we don't have anyone like that in the squad, bring back MCB and then trawl through the lower leagues, RU or another sport for someone with pace to burn and bring them into the system.
Mr Bolt is retiring, give him a part time contract and see if he can handle the physical stuff 😁

Wigan have a fewspeedsters spare. Mind you didn't realise how fast Evalds was until he caught the mouth Burgess.

Does anyone think Manfredi could be worth a look? Always looked decent when he's played for Wigan and was good for us on loan. I'd have MCB back in a heartbeat but not sure how badly he'd want to come back.

I'd have MCB back in a heartbeat but not sure how badly he'd want to come back. Wigan already stated the reason why they released Thiereny to Cats was that they had Manfriedi coming back from injury and a the couple of youngsters coming through. I'm not doubting we need a real injection of pace in the backs regarding wingers I'd presume it would have to be Johnson to make way. I'd be looking for Welhams replacement.

For those wishing for the return of MCB. He's been dropped by Wakefield for this weekends match.

For those wishing for the return of MCB. He's been dropped by Wakefield for this weekends match. Why? Injured? Loss of form? Already told them he's off at the end of the season? Family bereavement? Norovirus? Could be a thousand reasons, including 'they don't rate him any more'.

Not knocking the kid as his speeds mustard and he can score a try, but he's only ever going to be a squad player where ever he goes in SL.

Hes a good player and would stand up well, say,on Cas or Wigans left wing. Clearly he's not going there but I just don't accept he's only a squad player

Tough one this. He was outstanding for Salford around the time he had probably accepted a contract from Wakefield. Before that he was still decent.
Would I have him over Johnson? Probably yes, but they're two different types of player and Watson prefers a Carney-esque battering ram on his wings. It ultimately depends what you want from your wingers and how it suits your style of play.

Not sure I agree as his pace more than makes up for any deficiencies, that being said you'd love him to have been a squad player over the last 3 or 4 weeks at Salford as his pace might have made a huge difference in some of the games we've lost. Could anyone think of a quicker wing/centre partnership than MCB/Johnson? Remain convinced GJ has every attribute to become a quality centre in the not to distant future.
