This would be my strategy for next seasons recuitment.
Firstly, let Todd Carney go, he's simply not played enough games and must be a high earner. What I think our team needs more than anything is a quality Hooker, let's bring in a similar player to Matt Parcell from the NRL. You could bring in Patton as back-up and one for the future as next season will be Dobson's last. Logan Tomkins for me will be our third choice Hooker, let's be honest would any other club Super League have him as their 9, probably not!
Secondly, we need a classy centre. The club haven't had one since Joel Moon, we need someone who can extract a winger and pass a ball like Shenton. Sa'u is more of a battering ram and Welham although decent is getting towards the end of his career and will be solid back-up.
Finally, a Centre/Winger who will create competition across the backs, I'd personally look at bringing back in Mason Caton-Brown, he's a great athlete, has got pace to burn and still lives in Manchester.
A lot of people will be wondering, where's the bloody Props? But honestly, I think our pack will only improve from next season, Tasi, Koppy, Mossop, Krasniqi, Griffin, Murray, Walne (If he signs up) will only improve. Plus we've got Jones, BMM, Hauraki and McCarthy who are all big enough to step up and play in the front row if required.
Apologies if I've missed anybody. I'm pretty confident Watto and Bleasy will agree with the above and are already working on recruiment for the off season. I think this young squad will improve once again next year!

Really don't understand it when people slag Tomkins off, I think he's improved 10 fold. He organises in attack and we miss his defence when he's off the pitch. I have complete faith in the Tomkins/Brining combo.

I agree that Evalds should be full-back in the long-term. GOB to provide cover at FB and HB. With Lui signing a new contract this means Carney is surplus to requirements and the quota space should go to a classy outside back.
Some on here questioned the wisdom of giving Mossop a contract extension and sadly they would appear to have been proved right.
On Tomkins, he is one of the reasons for our excellent season so far. It's about controlling the ruck and not just the occasional eye-catching run.

Rumours are Dobson will be retiring, hope not he's been one of our best signings. Consistenly very good and controls the game well

Consistenly very good and controls the game well This is along the same lines as I've heard, think Patton, Lui and GOB would be decent enough but don't see we have a controlling half who drags the players around the park like Dobson does and good as Lui undoubtedly is he doesn't talk to his players anywhere near enough.

You may well be right, not sure if he is the creative player Dobson is, I would worry with GOB and Lui in the halves that there is not enough backbone to do the nitty gritty when needed.

Lui is decent enough, but I don't think Obrien is good enough to be playing regularly at half back in a team striving for the top four.I think the best he can hope for is to understudy Evalds. If Dobson decides to go then we need a top seven,

If Dobson goes I think Carney should be given the no 7 jersey. With a full off season to prepare and to knit with Lui I think if he was given the responsibility that's been given to Dobson, he could do a great job. In fact I'd make him captain!
Patton to shadow him and learn for a year.
O'Brien, sadly, not in the same class as a no 7. He should be a utility 1, 7, 9

He's just not had a run of games to get into any form.

Brilliant player but even with my passion for a utility player don't think he is in the Andy Gregory scrum half mould For me his best position could well be #13, has an 80 minute engine, good hands, tackles well and has quite a bit of pace, he for me is the new modern loose come mobile prop.

One of the half backs has to be the on field general to organise and run the team. Dobson does this perfectly. If he goes we need somebody in the same mould, who knows the game inside out and can lead. Lui doesn't seem to be able to do this. Of the present squad only one other has the knowledge, experience and ability to do it. Whether he is fit enough and wants to is the question.
Krasniqui could be an emergency anything if he is on the bench but the lead scrum half, never. Same with O'Brien.
