I was thinking about the make-up of next season's team. Any thoughts?
1. GoB/Evalds
2. Johnson
3. Olpherts/Welham
4. Sau
5. Vatuvei/Bibby
6. Lui
7. Dobson/Carney(if he stays)
8. Griffin/Mossop
9. Tomkins/Brining
10. Koppy/Tasi
11. Hauraki/Walne(if he re-signs)
12. BMM/Lannon
13. Flash/McCarthy
Cover for positions/Extras in positions:
FB: +1 (GoB, Evalds)
W: +2 (Bibby, Evalds)
C: +2 (Olpherts, Welham, Jones)
SO: ?
SH: +2(Carney, Wood)
Prop: +3 (A.Walne,Murray, Krasniqi - Interestingly all have yet to re-sign)
SR: +3(J.Walne-yet to re-sign, McCarthy, Jones)
LF: +1 (McCarthy)
We're still a little short on numbers at the moment. Rumoured to be arriving in the off-season is Patton which would provide extra cover for Lui and Dobson. I'm presuming that Carney will be on his way if this is true which also frees-up another non-fed spot. The question is, where should we spend that valuable spot? Centre? Prop? Where do people think we should be strengthening?

I really hope Hull KR fail and we go for Massoe, we need another huge front rower as for me good as Mossop is if he plays on he will be like O'Loughlin at Wigan and used in select games rather than constantly. Got a gut felling (I knew that vindaloo was a bad idea) that Dobson might call it a day a season early so we might go from having 3 class halves to just having Lui.
So for me we need.
Prop,Massoe or someone similar X 2
Modern prop/2nd row who can play for the full 80 when needed X 2
Winger and centre, MCB to come back and AN Other, we also need to get another lower league player with potential, I hear there's a free scoring battering ram winger playing for Sheffield if only someone would mention him.

Apparently we've lined up a second rower from York
Patton for Carney good.
Need a big prop, think Mossop great player but he was finished with Wigan.
Need a class centre that can organise the backs and a fast winger

Think Mossop is just about finished, sadly. His shoulder's been gone ever since ha went to Oz. Pity, really good player. We need another like him.

We've managed to do great this season with our current squad. With the right signings I can't see why we can't aim for even higher next year. For me I'd like another class prop to strengthen what we already have. Fingers crossed McCarthy and Vatuvei are in the same mould as the rest of the squad.
I'd love to see MCB back too. Such a dangerous player on his day.

You couldn't go for both Masoe and the free-scoring battering ram winger without dropping two of the current non-fed/overseas contingent. I think Salford have too many overseas players, and I wonder if it puts some potential fans off. I mean, have you ever seen Nigel Farage or Paul Nuttall at a game? I know I haven't. So, for next season, I'd like to see the club develop some of its own players. |

I'd pay to see Farage at hooker and Nuttall at loose forward. Mind you they wouldn't play if Kop and Kas were playing.

Evalds definitely fullback I think even Watson as got that by now.Who ever else we bring in needs to be better than what we have now,thats how you get better.

As much as I like GOB, I think we look more dangerous with Evalds at FB and he is better at defending when he's at full back rather than wing. |
