Seen the RugbyAM video from yesterday where Koukash said that if the crowds pick up over the next few weeks he wont need to think about re-branding. To be honest, I think he has underestimated the backlash so far. Especially from those outside the club with no affiliations such as RL Journos, and is cautiously putting a bit of space between any certain decisions. Sorry Carnster a name change should not be on the agenda. Now it is if the crowds pick in the next couple of weeks, you and I know that is not going to happen or if they do it will be minimal.Yes we are where we are but we have some hard games coming up,if we finnish in the top six I will be delighted.I spoke to Ian Blease yesterday,I asked him about what is going on behind the scenes I did not get far but he did tell me it is being handled by Paul. You get noticed by winning things and we are a long way from that at the moment. One small step for mankind this guy wants a giant leap,it's not going to happen.Teams in the past have had a good season then the next fell away,it could happen to us.Koucash has to provide the money to make sure it does not even if he needs to get someone on board to help him. A good example of a team dropping off a cliff is Widnes who were near the top of Superleague around the halfway point of last years regular season. Some armchair observers may think this could still happen to Salford.

Dixon13, you say that "Koucash has to provide the money ...". I disagree. Koucash doesn't have to do anything. He has already done plenty (good and, yes, bad) and we do not have the right to demand more from him. You need to prefix your statement with "If Koucash really wants to make a success of Salford, ...". I hope he does and we can continue to enjoy the team's performances this season and into the future.

I was wondering if the Dr is selling the club, and it might be a better sell to be called Manchester. He may even have a buyer in place, who wants the name change. Just a thought, no rumour

Could be right Scoot. However Sale changed their name - just Sharks now - yet the press seem to prefer Sale which might annoy those who sought the change.
Maybe `Red Devils` playing out of the AJB is the Target.

The Doc branded it, Red Devil's a while ago, look at the logo and the shirt, no Salfod. I think Salford added his year when fans said it was confusing with MU.
The new name might be SALFORD RED DEVILS!

By my maths, and I've disgraced myself by moving a decimal point in a previous discussion, our points should mean we are in the top eight. Simply because the current bottom 4 have to play each other (Cat v Hudd, Widnes v Leigh, Cat v Leigh, Hudd v Widnes, Hudd V Leigh) and so, even if we go into freefall, this should save us. I'm factoring in some of the lower ranked teams losing to Cas and Leeds. However, as a Salford fan of many decades, I'm not expecting a cup run or even a taste of O.T. Both Warrington and Saints are coming back, Wigan's injuries will begin to clear, and Wakey and Leeds are playing well.
So if we do become Manchester for the final stages, I do not think even the good Doctor can assume the feel-good of a victorious year will propel us into the Manc Nirvana. It is as likely to be associated with a good year of nearly there.
I'm sure people will watch a Manchester club. However when Mars renamed Marathon chocolate bars, Snickers, they did not confuse the market by renaming them Dairy Nougat or Kit Snick. They kept away from brand leaders or they would lose market by confusion.
Of course we could be wrong and he may follow the Snicker route by renaming it by its main name: Salford RLFC.

Koucash does not have to put money in.But if he wants a top Rugby League team he does. His that OK for you.I don't have the right to tell him how to spend his money.Like he does not have the right to expect people to go if he changes the name.

He can call us what he wants as for all i care, we have been called city reds, red devils, i still support SALFORD RLFC, IT WILL ALWAYS BE SALFORD RLFC. If we all stand together , and shout for SALFORD RLFC, boycott next years shirt if it has Manchester on it , turn up in SALFORD RLFC SHIRTS ETC, get the flags out, if they wont let us display then at the ground , we take them to away grounds and display them. As people have said the press are on our side, they will still refer to us as SALFORD. It is the TEAM we support, not Koukash and his team of idiots. He has already got rid of some greats at SALFORD RLFC, WHO HAVE BEEN THERE A LONG TIME, don't let him drive US away . It is our team our SALFORD RLFC, our CLUB.

Forgetting Leigh, Widnes and Huddersfield. With 9 games to play the following teams would need to win the number of games below to get over 20 points. Catalan 5 from 9 Warrington 5 from 9 St Helens 4 from 9 Wakefield 3 from 9 You must admit it's not beyond these teams to achieve this. It's probably irrelevant anyway because I can't see Salford not winning a few more games during the regular season.

If you're gonna include Wakey on that list, you need to include Wigan too - Wakey area sat above them on points difference after all. I don't get looking down the table at this point but if you do, you need to consider that you would need ALL of the listed teams to win the amount of games suggested to move above us... As well as us not winning another game. The chances of that happening are absolutely ridiculous, given how bad some of those teams are playing and the fact they also need to play each other.

Isn't this thread about consultation and not where we're going to finish ?
Anyway has anyone heard any more about the next phase? I sent my details in and my understanding was that people would be chosen at random to attend focus groups etc on 24th may. That's tomorrow. Has anyone heard anything?

I'm very dubious about the legitimacy of this next phase, pretty sure the names would have been given the warm balls treatment already. Can you see someone from the Scholes family or certain others who are very vocal opponents of the Doc being picked? No neither can I.

Think you are right, all my family have applied, not heard anything. Doubt they will choose anyone who was vehemently opposed to a name change.Has a funny smell about it!! Not surprised though, we have sponsored a player for last four years and no one in the club speaks to us, just bizarre!!
