In case anyone isn't aware, there is a fans meeting tomorrow night at the dog and partridge in Eccles to discuss the future of the club. I am hoping to make it depending on when I get home, hopefully a decent cross section of fans do turn up. Now is not a time for fighting amongst ourselves, we all want a successful Salford, and the majority of us want the name stay the same. I appreciate some are going about this in way which others don't agree with, but that's the reason this meeting is important. I would say doing nothing isn't really an option, we need to stick together. Some think this name change definitely won't happen, I really hope you are right, but something definitely isn't right at the moment and to wait and see will be too late.

I think 'fight clever' is the key thing here. If what you say is indeed true, why would MK decide to tell your friend this now, before any market research has been collated? It still doesn't add up.

We can't be going round kicking off on mk, or anyone else. Need to have good publicity for the Salford public, not look like a bunch of thugs. Need to get the mayor involved if we can.
Hopefully this is just another of Marwan last half thought out ideas that doesn't come to fruition, but as it stands it's happening

The problem that we currently face is that the club are desperate to portray anyone protesting as a small number of trouble causers (see recent club statement) and some people are falling into the trap of allowing themselves to be seen in this light which sets up a classic divide and conquer tactic. For example, long standing Salford fans were arguing and kicking off with each other on the terraces on Friday night.
We need to find a way to counter this. The club will be expecting protests to continue and even escalate, so how about turning the tables. Make the Catalans game (and remaining home games) pro Salford days. Encourage Salford flags, banners, scarfs, shirts etc. Celebrate our heritage. Forget the 'M' word. Come up with a decent tagline and get it going around social media. Imagine the entire home crowd all wearing red. 1m x 2m banners don't need a fire safety certificate for the stadium (I think). Get your kids making small handmade Salford banners to bring to the games. It could be seen as a celebration of everything Salford and 100+ years of history, and what we would be throwing away with any rebranding. It would also remove the possibility of being labelled as any sort of trouble causers.
Thoughts?

Great shout @bringbacksalford, although my concern would be that a small minority of fans would hijack the occasion in order to protest about the potential re-brand of the club. Definitely worth giving it a go though!

Thoughts? Yes let's all get down to the Dog & Partridge tomorrow night and find out what we as a collective know. Come up with a few ideas and make a plan as a team how to counteract the name change. We don't want to give up our name on the whim of a poorly thought out idea. This survey is just a smokescreen to say they've dotted the I's and crossed the T's. Congratulations to everyone who was involved in handing out the "Salford Forever Manchester Never" poster on Friday night. I've got mine up in my porch window where no-one can miss it.

I am as equally upset by all this if true as any other Salford fan but what is it "we all know as a collective", apart from rumours, idle gossip and tbh some quite hysterical rumours.
As you say a minority are going about this the wrong way and unnecessarily fuelling the fire with quite frankly made up stories.
The one I heard last night was ISC have already made the "Manchester" kit, ffs get a grip.
As a collective we should be supporting the team for the heroic efforts they are putting in this season and as already mentioned we can show our support and loyalty to the club and it's history by putting on a let's stand by "Salford" display against Catalans.
This again is where it needs a Herculean effort by everyone to get family, friends, stay aways and new fans down to the stadium to show we do care and are proud "Salfordians and Adopted Salfordians".
If we don't I fear for a poor crowd and this just adds more fuel to the fire and frustration of the club and the predicament it's in.
Also just out of curiosity could I also ask why rhp is a parasite?

It's been a great effort so far. We need a plan going forward that will bring the whole fanbase together. Hopefully tomorrow night will see the start of this happening.

For anyone who thinks this rebrand isn't happening, I've just been told by someone who is actually with that parasite rhp right now at the wire Widnes game that he has told him this definitely is going to happen. We can't just sit back and take this, we need to fight and fight clever. I was told at Wigan.that it is done and dusted.

I think everything should be done to keep the name Salford. All my family and friends have supported them over the years and people don't say they're going to the rugby or the Red Devil's, they say 'we're off to Salford', priceless branding. So keep up the good work.
But what would the new name be anyway. ManchesterRedDevils.com is, I think, MU fans web site. I think the name registered is Red Devil's and Salford has crept back in because at one of the open meetings a number of people identified RedDevils with MU.
Read Martyn Sadler's article in League Express last week about rugby brand name changes, really good journalism. For example Manchester Sale lasted one year. I don't think even RHP, who's not the sharpest knife in the drawer, could propose Manchester Red Devil's.
Could our new name be SALFORD REDS?
