Wow, that looked scarely good with Carney on the pitch. How much time did he have?
Might have a decent Team here.

Some fine tries scored tonight. Salford looked like men against boys at times. Next week will be a cracker.
If we maintain our morale and play, and can get a win, it will be a major sign of what we can do.

Very strange and somewhat disconcerting to see Salford play so well. Oh what a night

"If Salford look the dark horses of this year's Super League"....right stop it!! Can we now say we've turned the corner and changed our mentality? What a performance - to rack up 46 points away is decent against any team, well done lads, onwards and upwards.

Robert Lui heavily involved in all first half tries. He has really stepped up this year I think. No idea where Carney will play!

Agree that Lui was superb but we can accommodate all 3 on the pitch especially on the drier grounds. Carney has so much `time` - like all quality players and despite Mr Dixon`s opinion on here young Michael Dobson is organising the team superbly. He is far from finished and merits a contract extension & then a move onto the coaching staff.

Great performance & win last night and despite all Widnes' injuries etc "you can only beat what's put in front of you"! Turnout from our fans was superb and vocal, anyone know how many we had there? Oh and special mention to the "Paul's Widnes Fish Bar" for my excellent tea.😋
On a sad note looks like we will be losing Junior to a hamstring injury for a few weeks and does anyone know how bad BMM is? I guess that will mean JJ back into the centres next week and Mossop comes back into the 17.
Very exciting times ahead if we can keep up this level of performance. Saints seem to have picked up and now have their 1st choice HB partnership on the pitch so next week could be a cracker!

Watson said in the post match press conference that BMM could have come back on last night with an injection but they decided not to risk it. Hopefully he will be fine for Thursday. I suspect he's playing with some minor injuries anyway Less sure about Sau though. never know with pulls like that

I agree that Lui was immense last night. As Watson said afterwards, he played everywhere last night. Couldn't believe how high he leapt to take that bomb in the corner near the end
To be fair everyone was immense last night though. All the forwards worked hard and they can all pass well for big lads! Tomkins continues to improve and seems to be enjoying the moves when he's at first or second receiver, Brining gets better every game, was great to see Flanagan using some of the skills he's got with flick passes in two of the tries.
Carney made so many metres again, GOB solid under the high ball, the Johnson and Welham partnership is getting better and better. And our halves bossed it Dobson controlled things perfectly again, Lui I've already talked about and Carney looked class. Took him a few touches to find the rhythm of the game and the team but once he did you could see the potential. He seems to have that extra second or two to do what he wants, his passing is a different class to the rest of the team and he will create space and chances for our outside backs. I was really pleased to see how good he looked on debut and how all 3 halves could play together. I hope that passage of play - Carnney to Dobson to Lui TRY is one we see repeated time and again.
I wonder how it would work in a close game, esp if we are trying to close it out. But the creative potential of this team is better than any I can remember - GOB, Lui, Dobson, Carney, Tomkins, Brining, Flanagan is one hell of a spine
Only negatives last night were a few silly penalties and some of the passing quality. Every ball to Craney was either over his head or by his knees. Better passing and he would have had a hat trick last night. First one that went to his hands in the first half he scored
But that is nitpicking. It was a great performance last night and it feels strange to have so much confidence and faith in a Salford team!

Although some of the passes to Justin Carney weren't perfect, at least they were getting the ball out to him, which I think is something we haven't done enough of this season. Hopefully, we'll see more of it in the coming weeks. I think Greg Johnson saw more of the ball too. Some of the passing moves out were a joy to behold.
Widnes look resigned to the bottom four, and some of their fans were walking out before half-time. If anything encapsulates what's wrong there, it was the trainer in the yellow shirt who kept coming on for them. It looks like his training regime is a brisk walk to the pie shop every day.
Another tough game next week. Presumably, Josh Jones returns for Junior, and I'd imagine Lee Mossop will be back in. (Lee was on the pitch at the start and didn't seem to be carrying a knock, which makes me wonder of he was just rested. When was the last time Salford were confident enough in the quality of the squad to be able to rest a leading player for a match against Super League opposition?) The halves is going to be a difficult choice. Dobson and Lui were vying for man of the match on Friday, but then Todd Carney came on and showed us what all the fuss is about.
With the league being so tight (apart from the bottom two, who have been cut adrift a bit) yesterday's margin of victory might come in handy later.

I thought not playing Lee Mossop on the iPitch was a smart move. Lee's had problems with shoulder injuries in the past and that surface is best avoided.
Going forward we should make sure players with niggling injuries are rested where possible. We don't want a niggling injury becoming long term. So it's Josh Jones in and Junior afforded proper rest and hopefully back for Hull away.

When the team is in a position to bring in Josh Jones and Lee Mossop to cover injuries, that's something I can't remember us ever having the luxury of.

It's great to see and I personally have not seen a better Salford SL side for team spirit, performance and ability all rolled into 1. The signs have been there for a couple of seasons now, building the backbone of the team playing as a unit, the final piece of that is consistently performing to that level week in week out. I know it's only been two games on the bounce but the signs are definitely there, lots of cohesion with back up to in the key positions.
Obviously there are lots of positives to focus on and all deservedly so....the halfs partnership doing so well, Obrien, Sau, Flanagan, Griffin, Koppy consistently performing well, then adding to that BMM and Mossop both having immense starts to season. But the key for me has been seeing what we currently have in the 9 position something that we as Salford fans haven't really had the pleasure of seeing. As has already been mentioned Tomkins has really settled down and then this young unknown lad from York, this kid has to stand up and take a bow the way he has moved up to the premier division, continually improving game on game, he looks like he's played top level all his earlier career, he's definitely a star for the future. IW has to be applauded for spotting this talented individual.
