Had a look on the Widnes forums and they basically reckon that we'll blow them away and are very under confident. I'm really hoping they're right as, traditionally, Salford love to back-up a good performance with an atrocious one. I'm guessing that this game will be the one to tell us if Salford have finally turned that mental corner...

It's going to be really difficult to drop 2 players for the game on Friday. It would usually be Walne + 1 other, but given his strong performance against Cas it would be harsh to leave him out.
It's a great predicament for Watson and the club to be in.

I'm guessing that this game will be the one to tell us if Salford have finally turned that mental corner... Reading the Widnes forum, it's as if all we have to do is turn up to claim the two points. They don't seem to realise that Salford have long been the go-to guys for teams that need to get their seasons back on track. It's got the nasty smell of a crushing disappointment for us. As you say, this - and Saints next week - are huge games for us. We've shown before that we can pick up points against teams near the top of the league, but we've rarely shown that we can back it up the following week. Clubs like us always seem to struggle for consistency. This time last year, Widnes were flying high and people were calling them "the new Leicester City" (this year, people - well, me mostly - are calling Warrington "the new Leicester City"), but they couldn't sustain it and ended up limping in to the top 8. It seems to affect everyone except maybe Wigan and Leeds, and probably is a mental thing. It makes these next two games possibly the most important of the season so far.

If we want to avoid the scrap at the bottom this season it's imperative that we overcome our inconsistency by sticking some points on Widnes. This is the kind of team that we traditionally trip-up on and I'm eager, yet at the same time, apprehensive about the game.

It's very rarer in Super League that we have won 3 games on the bounce so our track record suggests we will lose one of the next two but as others have said we need to be winning both. The cliché about there being no easy games any more is true, the standard is much more even with only 12 teams but given the form they are both in Widnes away and Saints at home have to be seen as winnable games for us

Anyone got ideas on parking near Widnes ground tonight ? There is a big free car park not far from the ground - probably a couple of minutes away. It's not far from a pub named The Cricketer's Arms. Post code is WA8 7JT and it's on Caldwell Road.
