So Welham has been confirmed. Decent signing in an area we were lacking.

More than happy with this, good hard working English player, wonder if he'll get homesick for the joys of Yorkshire and leave early though

Is it just me that feels massively underwhelmed with welham? Squad player at best. Probably not. However, it fills a gap in a position we were desperate to fill. With a British player who naturally plays the position. At a time of the year when available players are thin on the ground. Squad player or not, his inclusion strengthens the squad in an important position, and not only that, it frees-up the likes of Jones to then cover the forwards if and when required. The bigger picture is sometimes worth looking at rather than the superficial pros and cons of just looking at the one player. A single signing can provide the coaching team with options that were not available before the signing. Besides, we should give the lad the benefit of the doubt before he's even pulled a shirt on.

Are all your glasses half full at home Carney??! Know what your saying but the fact is we've signed a championship player that couldn't even make the play offs, who's at back end of his career. Was hoping for a Stella centre signing and got Carling!!

Not sure of youre logic on this one.
Yes he's no GI, Jamie Lyon, Gary Connoll or Paul Newlove, but who were you really expecting us to sign? As mentioned he fills a gap in the team and gives us more options than we had, he's probably cost little and will not count on the cap, so hopefully the coaching staff are still on the look out for the calibre of player you seem to be wanting for.
I wouldn't say he's quite in the pension catagory just yet, he's only 29 on a 2 year deal, reason he's in the championship is KR let him go due to cap issues when bringing in Campese and Sio so they released him late on when everyone had made their signings and Bradford capatilised. We know he has an eye for the line he scored 29 tries in 30 for Bradford last season, yes I know it was the championship and yes I believe he can be a bit of a liability in defence but his overall stats played 221 / scored 131 tries (majority in SL) are not too bad really bet there up with the best in SL.
Yes I am Kris Welham and I claim my £5.

Was hoping for a Stella centre signing and got Carling!! Not at all. I just base judgement on evidence, and seeing as he's not played a game for us I'll wait until he's put in a number of performances before casting judgement. We'd all love for a world-class centre but we have to be honest with ourselves about the chances of that happening. The fact that all world-class centres are tied into long deals at their respective clubs means that none are available. This time of the year where pre-season has already begun also means that most players of decent quality are already tied-up with their current clubs, shortens the list again. That leaves trouble causers who have been released, older players that have been released, youngsters that have been released, and players not good enough to be offered contracts anywhere. The Club snapping-up a decent British centre made absolute sense to us, especially when he wont count on the cap. The one area where a decent player may be hiding is in the reserve grade in Australia. Which is probably where we are looking as a Club at this stage. Reality is a bummer, eh?

The less stellar signings the better for me. Was anyone overwhelmed by Kopzak, Jones or O'Brien? Until you're genuinely dining at the top table there's no point pretending you are - you just end up with Lockes, Hocks and Vidots.

To say he didn't make the play off's with Bradford is crazy logic, he was a very bright spark in a pretty much otherwise dull team, we'll see how good the rest of the squad were by seeing how many other players get SL gigs, not that many more I'd suggest.
For me it is a cracking signing, a youngish British player with a history of scoring a good few points, no history off the pitch and by all accounts a belting player to have in and around the other players. Would you rather sign another end of bell like Hock or Locke?
I'd be very happy if the club got a reserve grade player from Australia who turns into a gem but let's be honest if we did sign an unknown who scored 30+ tries this season we all know he'd attract the bigger bucks from another SL team, retire only to have a change of heart with Sale or get homesick for the beaches of Manly.
I reckon there will be 2 more coming in and then on balance think the squad looks quite strong, not big enough but we are cutting our cloth accordingly rather than squandering it.

He's alot like Josh Griffin, good at attack and poor in defence. it was an area we needed to improve and with Welham i think its a good signing.

We will see how good the squad is when the million pound game is finished and we know we are still in this league.

If Salford causes you so much anguish why do you bother? Genuine question as in your 115 posts all except the historical stuff is negative. If something causes me to be constantly miserable I tend to avoid it.

That's how my divorce started! I see everyones point about British player right attitude etc and it's a steady signing but not much to get excited about. Vidot was a wow signing and when he went I was hoping for something similar that's all....
