This threads kind of derailed so its my last say OT......I see Wood more as a half than a 9 so really hope we can develop both Brinning and Wilkinson as our future 9s. If Wood continues to develop where he left off before getting injured he could well be the ready made replacement for Dobson when his 12 year contract finally comes to an end.

I'm sorry but not a chance in hell is Wood ever going to be a SL 7. The way he played and the position he played in for me shows that Watson and the back team see him as solely a hooker.

I'm not sure. Dobson has SH slot for another season or two but Wood has potential I think but it's a case of let's see...... Think he needs to be given the chance though. They have him down as a pivot so why not fully explore his skill set.

Wood can only be an asset, the trend in the modern game (and Watson seems more than most focused on this) is for players to be proficient in as many positions as possible, while I doubt we have the ext Cronk or Smith Wood looks like he would do a job if called upon to cover either during a game. There's also the boon that he is home grown so we get breaks on the cap for having him in the squad.

Every reference I can find on the inter web states Woods position is "scrum half", does anyone know what position he played at academy?
Who knows how he's going to develop as a player, he only made 6 appearances in 2016 before he got injured and he was starting to be a steady player, who knows after being out for so long he may not progress but let's wait and see.
Whether it's 7 or 9 that he finds his best position, good to see we've got 3 potentially half decent kids being developed for a crucial pivot position.

Watch him in the academy team a few times and he was either SH or SO. Wilkinson played Hooker. They linked well together.
Yes good to see in house player development. Just need chance to develop further.
