Wilkinson plan hit the buffers when the guy who was buying the willows land went bump so Wilkinson didn’t have funds without council and peel to build the new ground! Thanks, as I say I am not apologist for peel, you might have an issue with them as one or two on the forum have but don't reright history and certainly don't put money down unless you no what your talking about.

It's not rewriting history to ascribe intentions and motivations to the groups involved; although Peel's involvement meant there was a stadium their goals were never intended to help SRD and if they could've rid us from the site, they would have. Any good turn was purely accidental and coincidental. served their ultmate purpose and as time went on this was proven time and time again.

Garrido strikes again.
As usual Tories scream playing politics and ideology whenever it's not their decisions or policies, I suppose when your policies are meant to make the rich richer anything that doesn't fulfill that objrctive must be questionable.
And if you're the kind of political party that shouts the Army(of all things is too woke), the Beeb is too left wing (If only!) and two companies shouldn't make a Creme egg cookie in the midst of increasing poverty, generational and man made financial crisis etc etc this would be a bridge too far or the straw that broke ....
If this goes against us I imagine that will be a death knell moment.

Russ I was putting something right and that was if peel and the council hadn't come to our aid,we would be on peel park, someone agreed with what I said, because what I said was right I didn't say it to belittle anyone just to put them right to the facts. It you want to take if Further and involve the Tories who I am not a lover of,or anyone else for that matter be my guest

You just look at the evidence and formulate your opinion.
You've done that by deciding Peel were benefactors.

I think the argument the tories have is that those other things like royal bridgewater at Worsley bring money into the city the problem they have is that including buying the stadium the council will be into it for over 30 million and when are gates are a core 3-3500 people and cuts are being made all over the city they have a point!im an avid Salford fan but I have seen what cuts to things like mental health have done and cutting carers, potholes everywhere and that’s there point im not saying the tories are right but that’s there argument! The vast majority of the £30m needs to be raised by selling the land around the stadium not through generating revenue through the stadium. The long term plan when the stadium was built was for the land to sales to pay off the construction of stadium and infrastructure. Looks like it’ll fall slightly below paying it off in full.

Look Tory means liar, it's not difficult and it's so successful Labour are copying the idea for the second time to win an election.

The Cabinet meeting is 10am today to vote on the ground. Garrido will be giving it everything he has got and talking to the press. Hope sense prevails amongst the Labour Councillors. No doubt any decisions will be on Socials later today as this is a public meeting. Wonder if JJR, LH Red or Salford1963 have attended. I bet Paul King is there.

Three of us managed to make it for part A of the cabinet meeting and every member that spoke had good things to say about the proposed stadium sale and the club, the foundation and rugby league in general with special mentions about the community clubs in our area. One member mentioned Eccles RU club but then complimented the work that the Salford Red Devils Foundation have been doing for years. Possibly decision announcement in the next few days.
