We’ll if last 5 years is to go by we’re not doing too bad. Two finals, one semi final Any type of sportsman professional or amateur will tell you nobody remembers the looser's infact if you look closely some don't even go to collect the medal,so even though it was a great effort don't let's start classing runners up like a badge of honour We’re Salford, so over the decades we’ve become accustomed to failure on and off the pitch. So as RO says the past 5 seasons have been our most successful for a generation and that can’t be brushed under the carpet as if it didn’t happen, in 2019 13k Salford fans would have said the opposite. That relative success has been the envy of our bigger rivals leaving them trying to figure out how a team with our resources could dare to ‘dine at the top table’ on a frequent basis. More importantly for our future, IMG will have factored that recent success into their grading of Salford so we have to recognise those achievements and give them the weight that they deserve. Granted there are no winners medals but surely we can’t sweep aside their achievements as if it had same worth as a relegation battle or a million pound game (as important as that was)?

And I think you're wrong the fans of the clubs involved in finals always remember irrespective of the outcome and many a cub and its fans would swap with us to be there or thereabouts .... ask Leeds and Warrington.

As gutted as I was to lose to Saints twice (and get robbed in the 2nd game) and Leeds (where again we got shafted with that decision against PP) my overriding feeling was of immense pride in the players and the club for doing something nobody gave us a chance of doing. In a sport so heavily dominated by the "haves" we've been a shining example of what the "have nots" can do with good coaching, recruitment and a great team spirit. Personally I'd wear that badge of honour with pride and don't look at it as failure at all (as you seem to be alluding to above), We didn't let ourselves down once in those 3 games and with a bit more luck we'd have been walking away with 1, maybe 2 pieces of silverware.

I’d rather that than flash in the pan where we win something but then it bankrupts the club or it leads on to nothing - Leeds United it was good while it lasted type stuff. Great for those who happen to be in the squad that year but not sustainable. Hopefully it’s not mutually exclusive and we can have sustainable and sustained success which includes the odd trophy.

Moved quite far from the original club statement.
If the club gets a long term and reasonable rental agreement the club will have a fair sized period of stability in front of it and in all likelihood more income streams. These two factors are what's been absent so far. They will make all the difference to the club's sustainaility but beyond that there are no guarantees. We are dealing with IMG on the one hand and the RFL on the other and between the two the stupidity is limitless.

Well Dixon you remembered the losers and so does everyone on here.
I don't think there's a narrative as such just a few who share one interpretation of the dream we all have.
As for the lost poster, have you looked down behind the cushions of the setee? I used to find money down there when I were a lad.

"The RFL planned response .." first of all that's a contradiction RFL and planned in the same sentence and no "without" to seperate them. Admittedly it's SARL the cut and paste articles where you get to the end and realise they didn't mention what the story line was supposed to be about. And then they produce one that does the opposite but must have been written by Isaac Asimov a science fantasy novel where the RFL woke up cared what happens to SRD and have a proactive plan in place to deal with the situation. The only thing missing is the alien contingent.

LATEST UPDATE
STADIUM UPDATE Club Managing Director, Paul King, has issued the below update on the latest situation surrounding the Salford Stadium.
Since we first spoke out publicly on the Stadium situation, we have been eager to keep our supporters informed and provide updates on the full picture as appropriately and as often as we can. This is the latest of those.
Following the expiry of our previous tenancy agreement, we have now signed a 12-month extension on the current terms.
Additionally, Sale Sharks and Salford Red Devils have agreed and jointly presented a working proposal between the clubs to Salford City Council. The proposal outlines terms that would enable a productive relationship and a future for each at the Salford Stadium, as well as profit for all parties. Terms include an initial and fair division of commercial assets and matchday revenues.
We have agreed to the extension with a belief in the Council that their commitment to complete the stadium deal by March will materialise. Whilst conscious that the extension is the same terms as our previous agreement, the implications of operating without any tenancy agreement leaves little choice in the short-term, however, it does now provide a level of certainty heading into 2024.
Regardless of the pressures this has placed on the Club’s finances, we are committed to trying to retain the same on-pitch ambitions of previous years. Now we have certainty going into next season, I’d urge anyone still holding off from buying their season ticket to do so. We have made strides both on and off the pitch in recent years and are looking forward to building on those in 2024.
Wishing you all an enjoyable festive period – and we’ll speak again in the New Year.
Paul

Encouraging news. I am hoping that the Council will now establish a long term lease agreement that will provide us with an income from Stadium sales on matchdays and also allow us to organise other events at the stadium which will give us access to another income source.
Happy Christmas.

I was glad they were able to inform everyone and that the news was positive but I hope the future moves mentioned get sorted.

On the whole probably the best outcome at this stage. Good to see that the club are looking at a more equal footing with our aerial ping-pong co-tenants.

Very positive from here we can grow our financial position. There is a much bigger picture, Salford Fans need to suck it up buy the Season Tickets and get ready to go again in 2024. If we can build financially over the next 2-3 years, destination Trafford and Salford evolves we're different gravy, same for Sale.
