Hopefully, once the buy-out of Peel is completed, the Council will have open discussion sessions with the supporters of both clubs and the clubs themselves on what they feel needs to be done to improve the gameday experience to bring in additional fans and make the stadium purchase a success. However, I will not hold my breath for it... The CBS board will be looking at fandom and I hear they’re reforming the sub committees to drive this and other pillars of growth. I encourage all fans to get involved if you think you can offer something, however little, to ensure all our voices are heard.

Glad to hear it, but I was thinking more in line of what the council itself, as the new landlords, can improve on/introduce i.e. better road access, improved parking, better transport links like park and ride schemes, use of the land around the stadium, etc.

You'd like to think the Chinese delegation that have attended games would be keen on buying up some of the land around the stadium to develop and that they may want to invest in the club. I'm not talking Shaky shaky Mansour levels here as RL doesn't need billions but Paul King did say he wanted to crack China and get them playing RL and this would be a stepping stone to that.🙂

How about cracking Salford citizens and getting them along to matches first…then the world?

Glad to hear it, but I was thinking more in line of what the council itself, as the new landlords, can improve on/introduce i.e. better road access, improved parking, better transport links like park and ride schemes, use of the land around the stadium, etc. A lot of the transport infrastructure is being looked at, particularly the metrolink extension, but of course this takes time and lots of ££££s. I very much doubt any road access behind the North stand will be developed in isolation of the development plans for the land. All of that will need to be integrated into what type of development is planned for that area. This site will not solely for the use of the stadium so what the additional access (and I agree we need it) looks like remains to be seen. We’ll still require the parking next to the training pitch, or else where if that is sold, but match day prices will drop to c.£5 line with other a Super League clubs. As far as Park n Ride is concerned I don’t know what agreement/subsidy is in place currently though I’m sure if it returns a net gain to the club and the operator then it’ll continue as is. I suspect a lot of this will be part of the sub committee consultation process

Sub Committees 😩…talking shops..we need a few people who know what they’re doing and volunteers below them to enact.
Could start with a rigorous Marketing or even Advertising Plan…life is really simple but complicated by too many people getting involved

Looks like the deal won’t be able to go through officially on the 3rd as the Manchester evening news have reported they will be putting objections in as they want it looking at again!

That’s the usual process…called democracy…(although baiting Russ, how a Democracy can have a party with one third of the votes having two thirds of the seats is beyond me)

So tomorrow the day everything resolved with the stadium as being reported last week or was it a red herring The deal gets sanctioned tomorrow but local government protocol allows for a final dissension which, I believe, has to be debated but ultimately that is just a delay mechanism. The council has already passed the motion to purchase the stadium so by the end of September we will have the signed contract in place. After 3 long years of battling adversity and Peel’s harmful procrastination we will finally have the security of a 15 tenancy. We now have a brighter future to look forward to and the prospect of generating income beyond just the turnstile. 👹👹👹

At least we’re not off to Moor Lane
Well done Salford City Council, a v brave decision…it’s up to the Club now to repay the faith instilled in it by the Leader of Council

Great news and also interesting that on the site map in the documents it shows buildings in place. The interesting one is the one that runs parallel with the training pitch. I might be getting ahead of the plan, but wouldn’t it be fantastic if that was a training facility for all teams.
