This is a potentially difficult game though they are missing some players. If we have clear top 6 aspirations then we need to be winning this as Leeds and Leigh at home will be more challenging games on paper. I briefly spoke to Paul King on Sunday and he mentioned Brodie will be ok for Wakey, Rowley has said he's not ready and then we have Ackers who looks like he misses out due to the HIA rules. Brierley will be back for Leeds - I'd keep Sio at full back and bring in Williams on the wing. If Brodie plays it is a bonus. But four props is a must in the 17, if Rowley does not fancy Olmondroyd this year then the sooner Gerrard is back the better. We cannot be putting Addy or Helliwell in at Prop it does not work.

Yes, we should be winning this. No, we probably wont.

This will be a tough game, we really struggled with them last time when they were on a poor run and we had fewer injuries. Theyβll be seeing this as a must win too.

Pessimistic me for this one, think wakey will do a number on us, key players missing so set moves will be off, hope they prove me wrong

On Sunday playing 3 props against Wigan was stupid, they had 5 on the pitch. If we settle our plays down we have more than enough quality to beat a Wakey team low on confidence. Keep them from scoring for 20 mins scoring they will start to panic.

No Ackers, No Croft & no Brierley so I can't see much of a win tbh!

It did prove to be a problem, but we don't know why PR only chose 3 props. Perhaps they were the only ones match fit, perhaps PR doesn't rate the others? There could be many reasons, but I very much doubt that stupidity played any part in the decision. PR has generally been very astute, imo. We have known all season that we lack grunt up front, and it is now catching up with us. I hope PR can solve the problem, but I would never imply that he was stupid. No offence meant, I just think it is the wrong word to use.

The reason Costello was on the bench was for cover, as Brierley had a slight niggle. But to my point you cannot expect to win a game of Rugby League with 3 Props versus 5, our pack was on the backfoot from the get go and I'd suggest Sidlow, Tyler and King all put a shift in. I remember we setup the same v Leeds away last year and lost. Four Props to me is a minimum in any game. WIgan/Saints always play four Props sometimes five.

God you lot are a pessimistic bunch sometimes.π Even with potentially Croft, Ackers & Brierley missing we can do a job on Wakey.
Salford to win by a couple of scores, we just need to be a bit more clinical in attack.

Sio was pretty solid at FB and he offers more than Costello as an attacking threat. A back 5 of Budge, Tim, Deon, Williams, Sio is pretty decent. Assume we then have Atkin, Sneyd & Bourouh at 6/7/9. If the forwards can get us into decent field positions on Friday then I'm confident we can put enough points on the board to get us the win. Wakey will be up for it but we've got a 100% record in West Yorks this season (2/2π) and that record will remain intact come 10pm on Friday.π

Love the optimism SS, but I'm also have 100% record in predicting Wakefield's results this season. The only one

You have got to say, if we have any thoughts of the play off's we have got to be winning this one.

I thought Atkin was out best player the other day. Brierley is obviously a big miss. I do think the best was a bad selection because if Brierley has a niggle then he MIGHT need to come off but we DO need four props. Now, even if he did get injured, Sio could go to FB, Cross to W, and Watkins to C, with Hellewell coming on at SR. On that basis I don't think we needed Costello on the bench for something that might occur... if it didn't was he going to get on the pitch or were we playing with 16? Also, if the likelihood of Brierley getting hurt was reasonably high and therefore the assumption was that Costello would be coming on at some point then Brierly shouldn't have played or Bourouh should have to play the 80 - I'd rather carry four props and one hooker than three props and two hookers - one of which isn't really a hooker anyway. I'm sure Costello could have done 20 minutes at hooker if needed.

Where's Longstaff? Did I miss something about him being injured?
