On a more positive note, the off field was great today.
Live music from an excellent stage in the sun with lots of people sat on grass and picnic tables, the cannon fire, the marching band playing Dirty Old Town at half time and the record crowd. We need to keep that effort up. Big up to the club for that

Top day yesterday, really made a statement in terms of what we can become from an experience and attendance perspective. On the field we were just not good enough on the day. I thought our forwards did ok, it was out wide where we got done. Moore was poor, 3-4 50/50 decisions he gave to Wigan though it did not cost us the game.
One moan, thought Rowley was daft playing only 3 Props, leaving Olymondroyd out was stupid, Wigan had 5 Props no idea what Rowley was thinking. If we have any money a big forward needs to be a priority.
Well done to everyone who promoted the game and got additional family and friends in.

Wigan’s defence smothered us, no Croft or Ackers our attack suffered, Tim Lafai took the game to them but nobody really went with him, still the Day was a great credit to the club we need that sort of crowd every week, good to see the away end full. And yes we need some powerful forwards, not sure Singleton is the answer though.

Great day out. Great atmosphere. Bad result. As Meatloaf sang, two out if three ain't bad. We got done by a couple of good moves from Wigan and didn't have the nous in attack to break down their defence.

That is accurate, the day out was better than the performance hope the new fans come back. I bet JJR was happy yesterday, not the result the attendance. We are in desperate need of a big Prop or 2nd Row, we need to bolster the pack.

And we are still joint 3rd. Could be a lot worse. We could be Huddersfield! Plenty of the season still to go. If we can get Ackers, Croft and Brierley back soon, we can still finish in the top 4 and have a good crack at Old Trafford.

I look on the situation a bit differently,as it as been said we are capable when we have our best 17 on the paddock.I think we punch above our weight So I think we are above my expectation But then I read we are nearly up to the cap,if that's the case we should be doing better then so should Mr Watson at Huddersfield.

Back home after my first taste of Salford at AJ Bell. I arrived at the ground about 12.30 and really enjoyed the pre match entertainment, a big well done to the club. The atmosphere in the ground was great from the Salford and Wigan supporters. Unfortunately the result didn't work out, I just thought on the day Wigan were the better team. Like many have said if we can get our best team out we can beat anyone but it was not meant to be yesterday. I believe as Dixon said Salford have been punching well above their weight, and it just goes to show we are not playing our best at the moment but are still in the top 6. Salford have been a revelation in super league over the last few seasons and hopefully it will continue for a long time. I'm planning to come back v Wakefield at the end of August so hopefully will meet up with some of you for a pint before and after the game.

One post on here doesn't all of a sudden change what the club have been telling us for the last few years. I mean even if you go through the squad 1 by 1 it's gotta be BS. That is a squad that looks like it costs about 2/3rds of the salary cap. How many of our players go into other top 4 big spending squads in SL? Sidlpw, Dixon, Addy, borough, Costello, helliwell, Greenwood ( can't even remember if this is how his name is spelt it's been that long since he's god dam played ) These are bargain bin and Rowley has managed to get a tune out of them We've a couple of really good players and have managed to tie them down by offering them longer contracts than anyone else and allowing them to play at a full time level for longer. Not for me, unless proven

We would need to pay more to attract a player (e.g. Partington) than Wigan or Saints would. Clubs like Wigan, Saints rely on very young players to make up the squad. Probably on very low wage, maybe living at home, hoping for a grounding in the game with the expectation of better financial reward in the future. Wigan, Saints etc operate on a higher cap. Dispensations for home produced players, especially ones who have gone on to be internationals bump up their cap limits way above ours.

The challenge for me is that we've lost two players in Sarginson (Surely on at least 80k plus) and Lannon and not replaced them. We have a Quota spot free and a forward pack running on fumes at times. Time to get another player in and the excess squad players at 2nd row need moving on when the season ends. We've raised funds, sold more tickets v Wigan, we now need to invest in at least one player whom can make a difference.

The rich pickings for finishing in the 6 should be attainable IF we strengthen.

Croft is marquee but we don't benefit from it as we aren't over the cap.
For those who don't believe we are at £2.018 million on the cap. Watch the video from the Owners Event where King confirmed that. It's also been in the press but I can't remember where.
