Worry is for Wigan it’s a lot of money to spend on a player who could have a good season and head off to the NRL as we’ve seen he’s not the most loyalist

As good a dupree is and I don’t want to lose him if we got hill in return and used some of that 180,000 to bring a prop in from the NRL we might be stronger?

Agree BIMBAM. A player on loan for this season doesn't help us for 2024 and 2025 season on which Tyler is contracted. I'm also sure that with Wigan paying a few they will have Tyler signed a lengthy contract, probably 5-years, and if there is an NRL out clause, it'll have a minimum transfer value.
Byrne I would be happy with, especially as he's a local lad. Hill has greater potential though and had shown leadership qualities throughout his you g career. I'd be ecstatic with him especially if we nail him down to a 3.5 / 4.5 year deal. Plus we can pretty much guarantee him much more game time than Wigan.
Hill, Singleton, King, and Ormonroyd, with Sidlow and Gerrard, plus Wright moving between SR and P has us in a good position at prop. Sidlow will likely retire at the end of 2024 and Gerrard will be out of contract so it gives Wright time to bulk up for a permanent position move too.

If we just get a transfer fee for Tyler would trying to get Luke Thompson back over here. I know he’s had a bad run with injuries, but could be a good option. I for one am never to alarmed when Props move on (for the right fee), as they can be replaced far easier than some of the glamour positions. Put it this way I’d rather be looking for a prop than a FB or SH midway through a season. As for Tyler if he does move on then good luck to him, as for him eventually playing in the NRL; I think at the moment NRL favours big big lads rather than varied running lines. It was interesting when Lee Briers was over a couple of weeks ago he mentioned forward sizes and said that a big lad over here such Liam Byrne is an average sized second rower in the NRL. There’s plenty of diamonds out there Salford let’s get digging!

Looks like Wigan don’t want to take No for an answer with Tyler.

Looks like Wigan don’t want to take No for an answer with Tyler. Yes two bids apparently, looks like as per Rowleys comments we intend to stand firm for the moment.

Fantastic that we are standing firm. There is a way to make a good business and football decision by getting Hill, Nsemba, or Byrne permanently as part of the deal, bit selling Tyler staright up would be a mistake unless he was causing interest in camp, which I don't think his is. The absolute minimum would be something like: Cash Loan player for the season Release Singleton early Have a player identifed for next season to replace the loan player.

I've not seen Hill but by all accounts he's really rated so no chance we'll be getting him on a permanent basis. The club appear to be doing everything right here. We're really trying to get rid of the "selling club" tag and great to see we're standing strong and not letting other clubs pull our pants down and do unmentionable things to our bottom.🙂 You want our players? Then you do it on our terms. That message will also get out to players as well. You sign a contract, you're expected to honour it and if you want out then we won't just roll over and be dictated to. Player power is way too prevalent in all sports these days.

There is an interesting side dynamic to this saga. Rowley has really put pressure on the hierarchy with his statements. Is he saying if this isn't done on my terms that he(Rowley) may up and go?

I don't think there's any chance King & Blease would do anything without fully consulting Rowley as they seem fully aligned in their vision for the club and they'll be chatting about stuff on a daily basis. If it's financially viable not to have to sell and Rowley wants to keep Dupree (and he believes Dupree will knuckle down, get on with things and not be a disruptive influence) then I'm guessing that's what Rowley's #1 choice would be. If the club get such a ridiculously high offer that is almost impossible to decline then again, I would imagine they will all sit down together and discuss how that cash can be reinvested. If Rowley thinks he can bring in 2 or 3 players and strengthen the squad then I think that's what he means by "footballing decision".
